Could Canelo’s introduction to the 168lbs weight division tempt Andre Ward to make a comeback?

Even though I don’t always agree with him, Vivek Wallace is one of my favourite boxing scribes and rarely fails to propose extremely interesting notions, such as this one:

I can’t speak for you guys...and I know this wasn’t a top tier Super Middleweight...but Canelo looked GREAT tonight! When he faced Mayweather at age 23, he entered the ring north of 175lbs. But it was baby fat. At age 28 this kid has grown into his 'man frame', has carried his power north with him, and has total mastery of his arsenal.

CAN THIS BE THE FIGHT TO BRING ANDRE WARD BACK TO THE RING???? It's the mega fight he never had against the level opposition he never faced. This guy gets the nod as my P4P top guy (mythical), and he has EARNED the nod of everyone who feels that way! #JustMyThoughts #TalkToMe #FightFam

Could Canelo’s introduction to the 168lbs weight division tempt Andre Ward to make a comeback?

And what would the outcome of a fight (staged at 168lbs) between the 35½ year old version of Andre Ward, returning from a two year and two months hiatus, and the 29-year-old physical prime version of Canelo (assuming it occurs on Mexican Independence Day next year)?

Thoughts? :-? :-?

When i read it automatically took on the voice of the "ancient aliens "- narrator in my head... "could it be possible, that..."

I don't want to see ward back in the ring, not for free, not at all.

If, he should fight kovalev again, in a not fixed fight, fairly judged, a full one, 12 rounds, guess he'd loose.

If they would fight as assumed in the post, i'd favor canelo to beat ward, who would make it as negative a tangle as possible but still would get outlanded, if just slightly, if, i have to sax it again: fairly judged.

Highly unlikely that but let's pretend just for a second no shady/corrupt macchinations would take place with their respective promotions involved.

Would be a top tier competition in high end corruption, who can fix shit more shitty.

I doubt Canelo would be interested in Ward regardless of whether he comes back or not.
There is already a long line of interesting potential opponents, Canelo doesn't need Ward.

You need a "Ward isn't coming back" option in the poll.

If Ward manages to make 168 which is highly unlikely, he is getting stopped, and if I am wrong about the stoppage, then no way in hell will he get a decision against Canelo.

I can imagine Ward's comeback against Usyk, only, and I can't imagine Ward's victory (even with his uncles as judges).

Doubt it. I can't imagine Canelo would want any part of Andre Ward.

Andre Ward is now a solid 200 pounds.
If he does comeback it will be at cruiserweight.

Ward is not making 168. He moved up because he couldn't make it anymore, contrary to what all the Ward-suckers say.

Never seen soo many poll options!

My head hurts.

Truthfully I don’t think Ward is going to box again.. let alone make 168lbs again.

Ward has not fought at 168 for more than 5 years and has not fought a year and half in general.
Even though I would love to see him destroy roidnelo, it's unlikely for it to happen.

Ward's the kinda fighter that if he were to comeback he would want to seek out new challenges, and new titles. 168, he's already been there and done that.

He'll go all diva and try to make Canelo fight in Jokeland.

As great as Canelo is, he gives up too much physically at 168. I don't see how Canelo wins a round vs a prime Ward.

:TU: Canelo is a great fighter but so is Ward. Ward is just slightly better in my view and considerably larger.
I don't give Canelo much of a chance

Good Lord! What streams I would cross to see perhaps my two most hated boxers of this era repeatedly punch each other in the face until bloody, ragged and dejected. Perhaps Ward could brutally KD Canelo in a one sided drubbing but accidentally catch the ginger dwarf on the deck, whereupon he writhes around breakdancing ala Andre Dirrell causing a Ward disqualification. The millions of way for either to lose would be too tempting. I'd love to see it.

Never gonna happen.

Ward by not perfect decision, which means he wins, but not wide enough on the scorecards. However, if Ward didn't establish an enough big edge, he would have lost by controversial decision. Objectively Ward should win this, he's more crafty.

He's a weight draining PED fuelled cheat whose handlers pay off judges. That he was competitive with the fighters he should have lost too is irrefutable, but so are the iffy scorecards. The Mayweather 'draw' card, both GGG fights, Lara. When he wins titles it's either by cheating or corruption or it's low hanging fruit. Rocky Fielding? Steven Smith? The walking corpse of Chavez jnr? Not forgetting his years at 'Caneloweight'. There's no doubt he's a talented and tough fighter, but he always had everything stacked in his favour. Mayweather rightfully got some stick for how he conducted his career, but there isn't half the stiffs and paper champs on his record as Canelo. Floyd and Manny were so much better than this protected little jerk it's not even funny. He's not "great" at all.

You only like him because he's orange like you.
