My honest assessments about Charlos vs Harrison/Korobov fights

Mell vs Harrison- Harrison won that fight bc he showed better composure, jab work and somehow he broke Mell's rhythm/ game plan by fighting negatively. Harrison had a smart game plan and he executed it well. Mell wasn't able to adjust to Harrison and he was just trying to land big shots.

Mall vs Korobov- Although Mall was definitely the bigger and the younger fighter, he looked limeted and stiff against Korobov. Also Korobov was timing Mall pretty well with his left hand. In the 12th round Mall had Korobov in trouble but he could not capitalize that, mostly because he was too anxious and wasted his power punches all over the place.

One with another, Mell and Mall would get eaten by Hurd/GGG,Jacobs and of course Canelo.

BS scene scored the fight 114-113 to Jermall.

They gave the 12th a 10-8 rd to Jermall..

Had it been a standard 10-9 to Jermall it would have ended 114-114..

Scorecards were waaaay tooo wide!

How do you guys scored that fights? 115-113 Charlo over Korobov (can be draw or 115-113 for Korobov too). Smaller Charlo 116-112 over Harrison, or 115-113 too.

Mall vs Korobov = SD/MD win for Korobov.

I had it 117-111 Jermell..

Maybe I gave him a lot of the closer rounds. Harrison’s negative boxing made a bit of a difference.

115-113 Jermall. Again close fight. A draw or a reverse scorecard wouldn’t have been a shocker.

Even though the Charlo twins failed to impress this weekend, they both deserved to win their bouts. Jermell was very unfortunate indeed.

I had the Jermell/Harrison fight 116-112 Charlo.

I can see 115-113, but there's also an argument for 117-111. A draw would be giving EVERY benefit to Harrison. No way he won 7-8 rounds in that fight.

Haven't got round to watching Jermall/Korobov yet.

what do you guys think when you are comparing Charlo brothers as a fighters ? Both are sharp counterpunchers. Smaller one seems to have better defense. Bigger one has nice jab and overall power, but seems slow with not so good foot movement

I believe he's saying that a cherry picked opponent can sometimes be more than what one expects.

I had the Jermell - Harrison fight even at the end 114 - 114 or 6 - 6 in rounds.
It was a tight, tough fight to score in which I gave Harrison five of the first six rounds & then had Charlo sweep five of the latter six. Yes, Jermell was the aggressor throughout but he was ineffective with most of his lunging shots & Harrison used a busy jab & occasional counters to keep him off balance.

As for Jermall & Korobov, I had the fight 115 - 113 or 7 - 5 for the Russian.
Korobov swept all the early rounds with his stiff, accurate straight left hands IMO. Charlo closed strong as Korobov faded down the stretch but by that point he needed a knockout or multiple knockdowns in order to win on my card. But, of course, the judges saw a different fight than I did.

OK, but Jermell deserved to win his fight.

Commentary was awful for both, would advise rewatching both without commentary

Not a very good assessment for Charlo/Korobov. Charlo couldn't capitalize in the 12th because he was broken down. Korobov broke him down badly with those sneaky body shots. Everyone here is being too generous to Charlo.

Korobov won it clear. Charlo couldn't land anything meaningful from 1-6 while Korobov was straight taking him to school. 7th is where Korobov's horrible stamina comes into play and Charlo takes it. Korobov rallied in the 8th and won it clearly. 9th Charlo wins. 10th Korobov wins. 11th was close and could've gone either way, IIRC, I'll just give it to Charlo. 12th was the only clear, dominant Charlo round.

If Korobov's name was let's say Andre Ward and he fought exact same way, judges would've given him 11 rounds.

Korobov he's the real winner. It wasn't even a close-it could've gonna either way type of fight to have a debate. Korobov won clearly.
