Kevin Mitchell will box in an eight rounder for the first time on Friday night at the Royal Highland Showground against tough French import Mounir Guebbas.
Guebbas, 26, has a 3-1-1 record and has never been stopped, losing on points over six to Anthony Mezaache in his only pro defeat.
Mitchell, 19, is currently 9-0 and has won eight of his fights by KO.

Seems like a good match for the boy..................would be surprised to see this one role over without a fight............Kev will be up for showcasing his talents north of the border.expect to see a dazzling display from the saviour of British Boxing?!?!?!?!

I have no problems with Kevin Mitchell (although he should have got DQ'd in his last fight). However, I do think he recieves to much coverage and should be allowed to develop without the pressures of TV.
However, it speaks volumes of the depth of quality of the shows he is on that his fights are almost always televised.

I won't bother to roll out the same old thoughts about Mitchell. But if he's the great prospect we're supposed to believe he is, then he shouldn't be in with someone who's only had 5 pro outings.

I'll watch tape it. The only way I'll watch his fight is if he gets KO'd which isn't going to happen unfortunately.

I noticed Mitchell won a decision, did he look any good? Was it even shown on TV? I flicked off after the Calzaghe farce.

Would have been interested in seeing this one rather than ANY of his previous televised blowout non-fights. I'd like to know if the guy he was fighting ran, or just had a good defence, or, god forbid, came to fight. Anyone know?

was ok ,, i was there,, micthell looked a bit cammer than usual i got the impression he was wanting rounds,,, gary young got a knockout again,, wasnt that good a show in all/

Going the distance a few times can only be good for a young prospect, nothing is learnt from quick one round blast outs.

Maybe he's listening to the critisism of himself, everyone was young once, if all your mates are telling you how great you are, you start to beleive it.
now he's had a bit of exposure and people that he respects in the game are telling him to calm it , he might.
hopefully he can learn as he goes on. If not then i won't be a fan of his.

Good to see him going the distance, at least it shows he wasn't in there with a guy looking to roll over at the first opportunity. Nice to hear he was a little calmer than usual too, because i sure as hell can't stand some of his victory antics.
