What do you think of the DeGale v Eubank Jr fight ?

DeGale is patchy and Eubank Jr unpredictable.
Both boxers have question marks surrounding their styles.
DeGale gets lazy and Eubank Jr gets sloppy.
Eubank Jr is explosive and DeGale is steady.

Tough call on this one.

It’s tough to call because who knows what physical condition degale will turn up in. He has the tools to beat Eubank. He’s an outside rangy fighter. But if he’s lazy, if he’s stationary he’ll have a much tougher day in the office.

I'm curious of how this new trainer works out. To see if Ewbank is actually coachable. With his natural abilities, it could be a difference maker for him, if he listens and learns.

James DeGale has been on the decline for the last three years, probably since the Lucian Bute bout. He’s had a lot of tough fights and has been consistently underperforming against mediocre opposition.

That being said, if James can box to the very best of his ability, whilst refraining from engaging in trench warfare, then he should score a comfortable points victory. It might even be a comprehensive boxing lesson, where he makes Eubank Jr. look silly.

However, if DeGale isn’t at his best and chooses to stand in front of Chris, then I’d expect Eubank Jr. to score the upset, because the smaller fighter has the better inside game, superior engine and excellent athleticism.

This fight all depends on what DeGale has left. If it’s the same version we witnessed struggle severely against Caleb Truax, then Eubank Jr. can defy the betting odds and score the upset via late stoppage.

All-in-all, I give DeGale an 80% chance of victory, but if he’s subpar, then he loses by late KO to Eubank Jr.

He might have trained with them before but he never actually had his own trainer..

What you wear doesn't really say who you are.. Did you seem him at the presser? He was much more calmer than we've seen, wasn't mouthing off. It was DeGale who was itching.

The one thing that’s troubling me has been DeGale’s penchant to repeatedly concede that he’s only got a few fights remaining of his career and also discussing his impending retirement.

He vacated his IBF strap rather than defend it against Jose Uzcategui, claiming he was only looking for big money fights during the final few bouts of his career, but then turned up for his next contest as a bloated light heavyweight when he faced a journeyman that was on a terribly dire losing streak.

He’s recently reiterated his intention to retire soon, which makes me question his motivation for the sport, especially in the context of the poor run of form he's experienced for the last three years or so.

I think if DeGale doesn’t have the hunger and discipline through his camp then he could lose… and lose badly. So I cannot rule out the possibility of an upset.

James has to be a big favourite to win this fight, but he might be ready-for-the-taking.

DeGale has also dealt with mounting injuries, let us see if he has healed from them and can school Eubank Jr. This should be the derby of unlikability.

Bit of a tongue in cheek comment from me however, how he behaves at one press conference doesn’t say who he is either. I doubt he’s changed, it’s very difficult for those types of delusional personalities to change. He’s got a huge ego to contend with, his own and not to mention his fathers. Not to say he can’t win....He could be getting DeGale at the perfect time.

But you must agree, what he was wearing was ridiculous. I saw some people on twitter comparing it to the costume worn by bane in the dark knight...but I thought Eubank was superman...now he’s bane? You know what that signifies......an identity issue.....perhaps he’s been in his father shadow for so long, longing to be his father that he’d forgotten who he really is. He certainly is not his father. He’s father is a legend and was a great fighter, very strange but a great fighter. Chris is not. So if he can’t be his father than who can he be? His mother? Christine Eubank? Christine Eubank vs Clarissa shields likely to be made, two trans athletes battling for supremacy.

Yes tricky, DeGale has been disappointing to watch for quite a while now.
He also lacks the lungs to fight for a full 12 rounds, something Eubank (despite his flaws) doesn't.

I feel DeGale is a little dismissive of Eubank, due to various reasons and thinks that he is a level above.
On his best form, you have to say he is, but his best form left him a long time ago.

If Junior can keep the pressure up and not try and engage, as in the Groves fight, then he could embarrass James with a wide points win. he would have to listen to his new trainer though that much is true.

Yeh, I read a lot of comments about how it was good of Eubank Jr. to hit the ASOS sales.

He's always dressed like that, sometimes, what you wear will never change.

There was topic about underrated boxers on forum. Eubank jr is one of them. Sure, Groves outboxed him very well, but still, Chris brings a lot on the table. He is fast, strong, durable and have good stamina and chin. Degale must come 100% prepared if he wanna defeat this man.

I wouldn't say he is underrated.

Folk know what he brings, but more importantly, folk know what he doesn't bring and what his limitations are.

Jr is deluded beyond belief and it's this delusion that makes him so frustrating to train.

He claims to have a new team, but I'm willing to be we won't see anything new.

He's nearly 30 years old and oldish dogs are hard to teach new tricks to.

Saying that, he's lucky he's meeting DeGale on his way down.

James looks on the cusp of being shot to me and it's because of this that Eubank Jr will probably prevail.
