I don't know how to call it but it sounds like hating GGG due of his hard earned succes by saying he wasn't promoted properly when this man fought two time the cash-cow of boxing in Canelo! GGG peaked as much as he could in terms of achievements in boxing. If Canelo is not the best mw in the world and one of the best top 10 p4p fighters then who is ?!

GGG's promoter did a hell of a job and now GGG has one of the best resumes/achievements in the mw division and he's a multi millionaire boxing big name. Deal with it!

The vast majority of Gennady’s wealth was actually generated from bouts promoted by Matchroom and Golden Boy. Tom Loeffler wasn’t the man in charge for most of those events.

It’s a shame that GGG didn’t join forces with a much better boxing content provider, such as Bob Arum, Al Haymon, Oscar De La Hoya or Eddie Hearn, earlier on in his career, because he would have earned far more money and possessed a much superior resume.

I think that part of the reason why Gennady Golovkin recently dumped Tom Loeffler was because of his inability secure a decent opponent for the Cinco De May fight-date (i.e. the Vanes Martirosyan farce), coupled with his failure to deliver on his promise to secure a suitable TV network deal before the end of 2018 (as per Dan Rafael’s recent Tweets).

I also believed Loeffler was trying to persuade GGG to accept a smaller percentage split of the total purse of his rematch against Canelo, but Gennady stood his ground and was willing to walk away from the bout if Oscar De La Hoya didn’t meet his demands.

We also need to remember that fight fans received almost no confirmation from Tom Loeffler about the type of marquee opponents he was negotiating with, because the vast majority of the time he waited for the promoters of GGG’s rivals to initiate contact. He rarely submitted financial offers to Gennady's big name rivals... and no one can prove otherwise.

If Tom Loeffler would have done such a "marvellous job" of handling GGG’s career, Gennady would have shown loyalty, forgiven him and not broken ties with the former K2 boss.

My comments are not intended to be disparaging of GGG, but I am being critical of Tom Loeffler, since I’m convinced the likes of Bob Arum, Al Haymon, Oscar De La Hoya and Eddie Hearn would have done a better job.

Tom did a very good job by promoting GGG and get the most lucrative fights for him. He had the ability to work out good deals with Hearn and ODLH.

Also is not GGG's fault or his promoter that the other mw's are not getting big fights.

Tom Loeffler had the ability to allow other promoters to initiate contract negotiations and also patiently wait for the phone to ring.

It's funny how a forum poster like EO/Fergus is judging/questioning the quality of the work of a well known and respected boxing promoter like Loeffler.

Tom did a good job, especially at the beginning. That doesn't mean that he couldn't have done a much better job. Also, his style of easily agreeing to demands of another side was at Golovkin's expense.

For the Canelo rematch, Golovkin was on his own demanding a higher split. Tom was just a messenger.

That’s a more reasonable stance to take, although in comparison to the performance levels of De La Hoya, Schaefer, Arum, Hearn, Haymon etc., I’m not sure if Loeffler really did such a “good job”… mediocre maybe, but anyway it’s a case of potatoes, potahtos, tomatoes, tomahtos… whatever takes your fancy. I'm not going to argue with you about this since our stance on the matter really doesn't differ that much.

I generally agree with your sentiments about Loeffler as well as other promoters being capable of doing a better job at promoting GGG’s career than what actually transpired in reality.

We are talking about GGG's career and Loefller played a major role in getting very good fights for GGG such as Lemieux, Brook, Jacobs and of course Canelo. The topic of this thread is about GGG and his career.

Oscar did a great job with Canelo, so Hearn with AJ and of course Loeffler with GGG.

Is it reasonable to assume that your attempt to avoid answering my rather simple question should be considered as compelling evidence to support a sensible accusation of you not being aware of any big-name fighters that are currently being promoted by Tom Loeffler?

To be honest, this is my fault. I behaved like a juvenile, since I'm old enough to remember that some people won’t allow facts to change their opinions.

I need to learn to let it go and walk away sometimes.

EO/Fergus is just mad that GGG is a multi millionaire successful boxer who is not interested in Charlo - who got boxed by old half-trained Korobov.

Atm, of course beside Canelo, no other mw has a better resume and successful boxing career than Golovkin. And that is a fact.

Very hard work of GGG and his team have finally paid off.

He wasn’t half trained, he was only scheduled for the card.. he was always the back up. Promoters do this on purpose I’m case of late pull outs, they can always turn to the back up option. Korobov was already training and he probably knew if Monroe didn’t make it, he would be fighting Charlo.

Kinda like how when AJ-Pulev was made, Hearn contacted Takam’s team and told them to stay on standby, and train. That worked out too.

As an on short notice back-up opponent I doubt that Korobov was firing on all cylinders in a full training camp preparing for Charlo.

On the other hand we know Monroe was doing that plus some 'extra'.
