The earliest video footage I have seen of Tex Cobb was just round 2 of his 7th professional fight
April-7-1978 against Paul "King" Solomon where Cobb knocks him out with a really big right hand (one of hardest punches I've ever seen him thrown)
,but that video has since been removed from youtube a while ago.
3 months after that fight Cobb was cast as Jon Voights opponent "Bowers" in THE CHAMP
and filming took place in mid-July 1978 at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles.
( the film was released April 1979.
here are the earliest professional fights of Tex Cobb that I could find on youtube presently.
His 9th pro fight from November.11.1978
His 10th pro fight from April 1979.

November.10.1980.
from what I remember this fight was only shown live on the cable stations of the larger cities in the USA only
and due to the fight going the distance and just over an hour ,on some cable stations it went off the air immediatly after the hour was up and onto another show just seconds before the discision was announced and a lot of people called up the local TV station wondering who had won it.)
