Who knows.. might be false news? I think Allen might have said there’s zero chance or he might be playing a long. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Good match up for Price. Allen is possibly British standard and seems to be a tough effer. If Allen is training correctly and running around Conisbrough Castle every night he has a bloody good chance of beating Price. Ive seen Allen take some good shots to the chin so I dont think Price will dispatch him easily. I think Price needs to stop Allen to win. There is zero chance Price would win on points. There are 2 possibilities here, Price has to stop Allen inside 3 rounds, longer than that I can see Price gassing and getting knocked out. I just dont see Price outworking Allen over 8 or 10 rounds. Any longer than 3 or 4 rounds I would favour Allen to take over and possibly stop Price. Its a good match up and is where Price is at the moment.

Nice post Master! I think Allen, at only 26, can make a huge statement for himself here.

If Allen trains right for this I can’t see him losing. Price is such damaged goods now, every fight it’s waiting to see him get knocked out or gassing.

Sure seems that way. I can se Allen winning in impressive fashion. I wonder how much better he'd be if he took things more seriously. Like I posted earlier, he's only 26 and this is a chance to make a statement, which is not too far fetched considering Price's last several bouts.

He just needs to start taking things more seriously himself. Before the Webb fight, he was scheduled for at least 2 more cards before the end of the year.. Hearn took him off them cards.

It’s a shame, he looked wel prepared for the Lenroy Thomas rematch, but it was unfortunate how that fight played out.

Dave Allen always looks out of shape, and that makes me wonder is his heart really in the pro game. I'm not sure if Allen is promoted the right way or managed like I would expect myself if I was a pro boxer. There is money as a journeyman and Allen fits into that category because he is a tough bugger who can test the likes of his losses on his record. Pushing him into these fights is wrong in my opinion because Dave Allen is British title standard. You have to have the heart and dedication to compete at any sport in any level and it concerns me that Dave Allen isnt fighting opponents at his full potential. Over the years ive seen good boxers just fighting for the money, and losing to boxers who are easily beatable if one trains the right way.

If I was managing Allen he would still be unbeaten as I believe that the fights he has taken are wrong for him at the time of his career when he fought those losses.

Ive had conversations with Mark Bennett about this and how many boxers are pushed into the journeyman league. There have been some good decent prospects over the years who have found that losing is better than winning.

I will always remember Michael Murray saying that he was good at boxing but he found it better losing as there was more money to be made.

That’s the thing though. Allen hasn’t got an official promoter. He’s not signed to Sky/Matchroom. Hearn just uses him on his cards because he can be a decent card filler.

He’s probably self-managed too. I wonder what else he does apart from boxing.

Aye and Allen probably, Allen gets a lot of credit for his toughness but has Little else to his game, so landing a lucky shot or hoping Price gasses is his only hope, he’s no defensive master and Price hits like a mule

At this stage I would certainly hope so! Briggs is a Charerctature (sp?) of himself.

Briggs is way too old and his asthma is probably worse now.

Has this come from a proper source or just Boxing Kingdom's tweet? Price definitely mentioned fighting Allen in a recent IFL interview so it looks like it's on the cards. I don't think he'll have any problem dealing with him.

Don't understand the notion that Price has no chance of winning on points? Allen is a punch bag who throws about 5 punches a round when he's over matched. He's not out boxing anybody. I could probably count the amount of rounds I've watched him win on 2 hands. He was down on the cards against Nick Webb ffs. The same Nick Webb that was dealt with as (or arguably more) convincingly by Kamil Sokolowski. In fact Allen and Sokolowski would probably be quite competitive. Price was fairly poor against Sokolowski but had no issues outpointing him over 6 rounds. I see the same again here unless Price stops him.
