Knockout artist Phillip Ndou has announced his retirement after failing a routine bran scan for his pending IBO title clash with Jason Cook.
"What can I say?" asked his trainer Nick Durandt, who moulded Ndou into a feared fighter.
"Phillip had a problem. A brain scan picked up a growth as we were preparing for Jason Cook in England."
The fight was due to take place in London on November 5.

yes read about this yesterday. how about the fighter who beat ndou last time out.

gutted for Ndou and hope it is nothing that will affect his health....

What in tarnation is it with fights this year. English fighters seem to be having terrible luck with clashes not materialising.

Hope N'Dou isn't in serious jeopardy.

I'm sure Ndou's okay. Reading between the lines, the Board were simply unhappy with Ndou as an opponent after his last fight, when he took a beating, collapsed after the fight and had to be rushed to hospital.

You seem pretty confident about that.

the guy who beat NDou - Isaac Hiroshima (something l;ike that) is meant to fight Lovemore NDopu next.

Anyone overseas fighter who's taken a bad beating recently ain't gonna be allowed in by the Board.
Al Cole has taken a few recently and wasn't allowed in to face Matt Skelton.

Well that's a good policy. They should extend it to guys who have absolutely no f*****g chance in title fights too - 30-1 longshots & the like.

Hope N'Dou is ok - that's a hell of a sudden fall from the heights of a few months ago.

Yeah I think everyone took notice when N'Dou walloped the rock-chinned Carlos Rios. But I suppose the hard struggle with Baloyi showed us what level he would eventually settle at.

Big shame, at least he got his big fight though.

Yes and there even a few people about who thought he would upset Mayweather as well, shame for N'dou i hope can carve himself a new career and life out after Boxing.

Was really looking forward to the Cook fight, thought Cookie had a good chance of doing him. In the end, I'm glad it's off. N'Dou had a more than decent run and I hope he finds something constructive to do with his spare time now, down in ZA.

Yes, was looking forward to that one too, had the potential to be domestic fight of the year.

I to was looking forward to this fight, but it goes without saying that Phillip Ndou's health is far more important.

Hope he has a happy and healthy retirment.
