The promotion of the Terence Crawford-Amir Khan pay-per-view fight will get underway next week.

BS.com has learned that Crawford and Khan will appear at press conferences Tuesday in London and next Thursday, January 17, in New York. The sites of their press conferences will be announced later this week.

The 31-year-old Crawford (34-0, 25 KOs), of Omaha, Nebraska, and the 32-year-old Khan (33-4, 20 KOs), of Bolton, England, have agreed to fight April 20 for Crawford’s WBO welterweight title. Contracts are in the process of being finalized, but the framework for their deal has been agreed upon by both sides.

The venue for their fight hadn’t been chosen as of early Wednesday evening. It’ll take place either at Madison Square Garden in New York or MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

ESPN will distribute Crawford-Khan as the main event of a pay-per-view telecast as part of the cable giant’s exclusive contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc., Crawford’s promoter. Khan’s three-bout contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing will conclude with the Crawford fight.

I wonder what sort of price this will be at in the states.

$50?
$75?

Arum must know despite Crawford doing over a million views on HBO and ESPN, it takes a different kind of fighter to sell a PPV.

Khan is well known in the States, his name, on paper, will definately generate interest for this fight.

Garcia will be fighting Granados on FOX or FS1, can’t remember which. I don’t think that will take too much focus off of this bout.

Thoughts?

Unless there is a more compelling card under this bout, I probably won't pay for it.

Easy work for Crawford. The biggest name in his resume, but still a mismatch.

What's the over/under for rounds on this debacle?

I say five rounds is the over/under.

I think, from the 5th til the 8th is the most probable range, but earlier is possible, while later isn't really.

Almost always 8.5, 9.5 or 10.5

I'd definitely go for the under with any of those. I figure Crawford gets him outta there sometime around the 6th or 7th. The 8th round is the maximum distance I can see Khan surviving to.

Same here. I figured over/under around 5. if as OTO says, seems tempting.

I don't recall ever seeing one that low for a 12 round fight.

Jesum, how many times do we need to see Amir spaghetti-legged and on geek street. He could literally die in this fight, God forbid. Khan vs Brook is the only fight I’d like to see this kid be promoting at this day and age. This is how fighters end up mumbling and losing sense of reality pulling guns out in populated areas.

Khan’s had a nice career. His days as an elite fighter are over so now he needs to focus on these smaller, more fan friendly entertaining rivalries to make some more nest egg money. What he doesn’t need is to take 8 or 9 rounds of bombs by one of the nastiest boxers on the planet. This fight is all wrong. Khans a loudmouth but that shouldn’t make anyone look forward to a beating like this. Horrible.

Much better than Crawford collazo but this is a forgone conclusion. Khan will be stopped. Much prefer Crawford Garcia (both lol), Spence, Thurman, porter.

Khan cannot draw flies to an outhouse in the US unless he is fighting a media star like Canelo. Crawford gets any credit for whatever PPV numbers this does in the US.

And it should end very similar to Canelo-Khan: Crawford by KO!! If it wasnt for Fraudley Harrison, Khan would be the most disappointing British Olympian as a pro in many years.

Khan is a bigger draw than Crawford. See Crawford's horrific numbers last time they put him on PPV. Khan gets all the credit for this PPV.

What are you on about?

Crawford is probably less known than Khan. You think Crawford-Collazo does better numbers than Crawford-Khan? Not a chance. Why dya think they want Khan? Because he might be an ‘easy’ win? No. They want to raise Crawfords profile even more. Khan will be getting equal credit on the PPV numbers.

You can compare Canelo-Khan and Canelo-Smith. The Khan bout did 200k+ buys more than the Smith bout. Why dya think that was?

OK...maybe I was a little bit harsh on Khan's drawing power. Collazo would have been a bigger joke than Khan, both talent-wise AND marketability. But I stand by my statement that Khan has been the most disappointing British Olympian other than Fraudley Harrison. Nothing he's done in the ring since the Canelo loss has come close to earning Khan a title shot.

So you’re saying the likes of David Price and Fred Evans have had better professional careers than Amir Khan since they turned pro?

Lol, sounds nuts when you put it like that. Khan has had one of the better careers of British Olympians. I'd vote for Gavin.

I know Gavin had a good amateur career but did he ever compete at the Olympics? I'm sure he failed to make weight at one of the Games, 2008 maybe when he was the betting favourite for the Gold
