"Dillian Whyte Stunned By Offer Tabled For Anthony Joshua April 13th Bout"

It has emerged this afternoon that Dillian Whyte has now received an official offer to fight Anthony Joshua at Wembley stadium on April 13th.

No details on what he’s been offered have been forthcoming as of yet but Talk Sport have now confirmed the following reaction from Whyte:

Whyte recently defeated Dereck Chisora in their rematch just gone last month in emphatic fashion inside the distance.

Previously to that he had also built up a strong run of competition, as has Joshua to be fair.

All in all, the above would seem strange that he’d be offered less than what he made for the Chisora fight.

Particularly considering the fight is at Wembley against a global star in the sport in Joshua will generate an awful lot more revenue than the Chisora rematch did.

If Joshua were not to land an opponent soon for April 13th time could be running out on the slot for Wembley with some suggesting as a back up plan he could even scrap the date entirely and face American Jarrell Miller in the US alternatively in May if he doesn’t land a credible opponent soon for the April 13th date.

“There’s been a first offer but it is utterly ridiculous,” Whyte told Jim White on talkSPORT, “It’s way less than what I made against Chisora basically.

“It is a ridiculous offer, they’re not serious about the fight, I don’t think they want the fight, I think they just made an offer to cover ground.

“It’s just silly, I’m a pay-per-view fighter now in the UK which I’ve built by myself against all the odds.

“It’s not like I’m a journeyman. I’ve had nine fights since I fought him and won them all in spectacular fashion.

“I don’t think he wants to fight me, there’s easier paydays out there for him and he knows that I will bring problems to his mum’s house, so he don’t want it.”

“Apart from me, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder you can’t sell out Wembley,” Whyte continued, “So let’s be realistic.

“It looks like Tyson Fury’s gonna fight Deontay Wilder, so if he’s serious he needs to stop messing about.

“This is an easy fight to make, it’s not a hard fight, I have the rankings, we have history.

“We fought twice already, no-one’s gonna complain about the fight, so what’s the problem?”

“[It’s] way off, how can I make more to fight Dereck Chisora? There’s middle ground, there’s okay ground and there’s way, way, way off. It’s arrogance.”

Rumours had also surfaced in recent days that former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko could be set for a 2019 comeback against Dillian Whyte.

The ‘Body Snatcher’ responded to this talk by declaring: “I’ll fight Wladimir Klitschko and knock him out if he comes back, I’ll definitely knock him out,

“I know exactly what to do. I trained alongside him, I sparred him for years and I know what he’s like, I’d knock him out.

“He’s a great fighter, he gave Anthony Joshua hell, but I just believe it’s my time now and I know what to do. I know how I need to fight him.

“Of course he can [put me down] he’s very experienced.

“I just believe I will take it into his kitchen and rip the sink out, he doesn’t like body punches as well, I know that from sparring with him.”

Joshua-Whyte is a waste of Joshua's, Wilder 's and Fury's time. I hope it doesn't happen.

But if Wilder rematches Fury then it makes sense for aj to fight him though

Makes most sense to get any mandatory obligations out of the way surely?

As a fan, it's getting overly frustrating to hear all these rumors with a lack of details/facts. Like, Miller still doesn't have an opponent for January 18th. I can't imagine how all this is going to fall in place between the top HW's.

Dillian Whyte is frustrated about the fact that his purse for the Chisora rematch is bigger than the payday that Eddie Hearn has offered him to headline a Wembley Stadium filling mega PPV event against Anthony Joshua.

'The Body Snatcher' has already headlined three of his own PPV’s and is a fairly big draw in the UK, so it makes no sense for Matchroom to give Whyte a better payday against Chisora than they’re willing to pay him for the AJ rematch.

I’m not suggesting that AJ is ducking Whyte, but perhaps Eddie Hearn has submitted a lowball offer to 'The Body Snatcher', hoping that he’ll reject it (solely for PR reasons, so he can claim Dillian turned down the opportunity), because a safer route to bide Joshua’s time, whilst waiting for the Fury/Wilder super-fights, would be to face Jarrell Miller instead in the US.

Dillian Whyte is a bit of an unknown quantity, because he’s constantly improving. And even though AJ would be strongly-favoured to beat him, many hardcore boxing aficionados wouldn’t be shocked to see an upset.

Nah, I think you were right the first time- it's a lowball, so Whyte turns it down and AJ goes on to the MSG to fight Miller.

Joshua fighting an opponent who has never faced anyone in the top 20-25 would be embarrassing IMO.

I don't buy that. His management team is connected enough to have pulled some strings.

He was, in fact, granted a US visa in February of 2017. That's the earliest I could find. It says it was his first time applying and that AJ sweated it out, but no record of refusal.

thanks for that info Oogiebe...pretty much what I expected..

After all theatrics of have Joshua call Whytes fight with Chisora and having Joshua say he was worthy of a shot we get this low ball offer. Joshua should assert himself and demand the big fights.

Greg, Joshua is British, he doesn't need a European visa. He is European by default.

France is still the capital of Europe though.

You might not buy it, but that’s what actually transpired. Celebrities aren’t immune from the law and it’s fairly easy to research several examples of famous people that weren’t allowed entry into certain countries due to their criminal record.

Eddie Hearn isn’t as powerful as you’re led to believe.

It doesn’t work that way. Ex-criminals don’t simply keep applying on a weekly basis until the embassy eventually relents and gives them a visa out of annoyance, so why even ask such a question?

The only thing that was disclosed was that AJ only received his VISA during 2017, after engaging in a long process that involved his lawyers.

I can’t tell you more than that because I’m not a member of his team.

This topic has already been discussed at length by this forum a few years ago and most of us are aware of several boxing people that were prevented from travelling to the US due to their criminal records.

I checked it out. AJ got his US visa in February 2017.

A Title shot is about the opportunity to earn much bigger paydays going forward more than it is about getting paid the big bucks for getting the shot. Or at least it should be. If Whyte is able to pull it off, which he should believe he's capable of doing, then he stands to make WAY more money in the future.

That being said, I hope the offer stays "Insulting" to him, and AJ just fights a more interesting opponent altogether.

If Whyte is gonna get a title shot I'd rather see it be against Wilder.
