Marcos' brother Fabian Andres Maidana (16-0, 12 KO's) takes on former 2 x world title challenger Jaider Parra (32-2-1, 21 KO's) tonight in Argentina. Nicknamed "TNT", as a pro Fabian has impressed me thus far.

I was a big, big fan of Chino so I'll definitely be rooting for his brother to match or surpass his brother's accomplishments.

I think he can be just as good as Marcos. His amateur credentials are just as solid and he's a great body puncher. He should handle the 36-year-old Parra pretty well and then hopefully he will step up the caliber of his competition. He's been fighting as a pro for almost 5 years so it's time to make that move.

That's quite an endorsement!

Is Marcos Maidana seen as a big star in Argentina? I know fight fans around the world love the guy, myself included. Hope his brother does well too.

I forgot about him. I just went BoxRec warrior. Wow, he's the first dude to stop Klimov? That's ridiculous.

He had 8 fights in his first 14 months and all of them in the US!! Then he started campaigning back in Argentina and fought less often, so he was off my radar until now!!

Seen all his pro fights and the kid seems to be above what you'd expect from a young pro fighter... he is composed, has patience, good timing... modulates his pop well too. I like how he throws the straight right... should be the money punch vs Parra tonight.
I've seen one meh type of performance from him but otherwise he is usually impressive for a young prospect.
I'll post highlights of the full card here once it is over!

The skills are there, focus, composure... but the work rate? again questionable... maybe overly patient... It was problematic with Parra applying pressure and cutting the ring...

Damn. That sucks, but at least given Parra's record it at least looks like he lost against a guy he was stepping up against. Hopefully he can improve off of this and get better.

I’ve never understood these .5 scorecards from Argentina. Can anyone explain?

IMO it's the best scoring system... 10-9.5 for close rounds
Solves the classic fighter A wins half the round comfortably and fighter B wins the other half close controversial Draws with the 10-9 system.
