Scott was also beating Carter in their first fight when he was ruled out with a cut.

In my opinion he had a good record. There were no losing journeymen, left side of the card or padded records in those days. He won more than he lost and he fought excellent opposition. In every bout he had both men were trying to win (again unlike today). He would hold his own today very comfortably. He was one of three lads, more or less at the same weight, and from the same area who are very similar in their achievements. Johnny Cooke and Pat Dwyer being the other two. You could also include Ronnie Hough and Les McAteer. All proper fighters from a tough era.
