...does Mayweather come back for the rematch? Pacquiao was quoted as saying, "Tell him to come back to the ring, and we will fight."

it will not happen just because it will not generate much money now, not even 10% of their first fight i guess

Well Pacquiao is a boxer so going by Floyd's recent history that would rule Manny out. I think the fight everyone really wants to see is Floyd vs a "fifty years younger" Larry Merchant, if modern science can find a way reversing the effects of ageing by half a century i think all the smack talk is in place for this to be the new PPV record.

I doubt it.
Pacquiao didn't do anything special; he only beat Adrien Broner, which any semi competent welterweight could do.
Mayweather is only interested in numbers and I can't see a rematch doing anywhere near the same numbers, as the first fight was crap and years too late.

I highly doubt it. In addition, Pacquiao should avoid at all costs top youngsters at welterweight

I don't see Floyd having an actual fight ever again.
If billionaires are willing to pay him 10 million for an exhibition he'll never return.
And face it there are a bunch of dumb rich people willing to fund that crap

mayweather is out of the ring too long.
at this age this means he has no chance
against an active world level athlete.

I don’t know what’s next for Pac. I think he loses to the top welters at this point in his career. Maybe he can beat Khan, D. Garcia, and Porter. But Thurman, Spence, and Crawford would hurt him badly.

Floyd’s ego will not allow him to stay away from the game. Manny is the only one he can come back and fight and be on equal footing with age.
You guys are crazy if you think the fight won’t do well. It will be the highest grossing PPV all year.

Yeah I don't think his ego will allow him to steer clear, but the fight won't do that well financially.

How do you get people to buy a PPV between a 40 y/o vs 42 y/o for $74.99? Some FMJ haters might buy it if they think Pac can take him out, as you allude to.

They could sell a rematch but obviously it won't do the numbers it did last time.
Plenty of people will buy it with a few bucks lumped into selling the thing but both will take significant pay cuts.
It's the seniors tour plain and simple.

I get what you're saying, Jam. I can't see it doing that well, but I'm also not a promoter. For me I wouldn't pay the usual USA $74.99 for a card headlined by it. Not for that, unless it was part of a really great card, or with a really great fight.

Maybe they can introduce the
WBC Super Gray Oldies Belt.

Damn you I told you stop that making up belts.
I blame you for the fractured state of the sport.

Boxing is now marketing during NFL games so they are definitely taking it to another level. Mark my words, it will beat any fight in 2019 and it won’t even be close. Celebrities will be out in abundance and it will be the biggest fight of the year. There’s no doubt in my mind.

There's a decent chance that 70% of the people who bought the ppv don't even know how old they are or who their last opponents were. Mayweather vs Pacquiao is basically the ppv for people who've only heard of 2 boxers.
What's more damning is that anyone who saw the first fight would probably never pay to see a rematch.
