Regarding Wlad's bout with Joshua: Vitali was part of Wladimir’s corner that night, and famously advised him not to push for the knockout after dropping Joshua in the sixth – a mistake that some believe cost ‘Dr Steelhammer’ the victory.

Now, in a Ukrainian interview, the 47-year-old has explained how he initially wanted to come out of retirement and put things right.

“I had a great desire to get into the ring after the bout between Wladimir and Anthony Joshua,” Vitali Klitschko told Bookie Ratings, “There was a desire to tear off Anthony’s head.

“In fact, in the career of the Klitschko brothers there was such an interesting component – I once lost to Chris Byrd – I was injured, but Vladimir in the next fight went against Chris and took revenge for his brother by knocking him out. “Then Vladimir lost the fight to Cory Sanders and then the elder brother came out, knocked out and took revenge for him.

“Now I had no such opportunity, although the desire was great. There is a desire, but opportunities no longer allow.”

Reminiscent of days gone by. Anyone else growing 'weary' of the brothers of late? Thank God for the last comment in bold...

This is what I didn't like about the Klitscko's.
Having your brother avenge your defeats is not the same as coming back and doing it yourself.
Yet some fans would throw the avenged fights as proof positive of how good they were.
Comical to say the least.

Now back on topic. Wlad needs to stay retired.
The desire may still be there but his last 2 fights that he lost showed he's not the same fighter. And even the Jennings fight before those showed how he was slipping

They're both in their 40s and have had their day.

Disaster awaits in any comeback bid.

Both Klitschkos are very intelligent individuals, and I doubt that either will give in to their coneback fantasies.

But they both (especially Wlad) seem to still enjoy the attention and speculation always surrounding their boxing intentions.

In a way, they delight in encouraging it.

Against Jennings and Fury his head wasn't in it. He was having trouble with his wife's depression.

He was great against Joshua, almost had him out at one point. He did better than anyone else has against Joshua.

But that was a few years ago, Joshua is even better now and Wlad is a few years older. He could conceivably beat almost anyone else though.

He fought even with Joshua because Joshua was a novice at the time.
Fury beat him fair and square. Stop with the excuses.
His timing was way off because of age. It happens to all champs. Yes done and would lose to the top 6 easily

An easier to hit Wlad can be beaten by 1-6 HW's right now.

Wlad was notorious for not pulling the trigger in his prime, add in age with that happening when he wants too he could end up throwing 10 punches a Rd. I wouldn't hate watching him beat up pudding Miller. Lol

yep Wlad loses easily to the top 6 right now. No shame in it though he's just old and not the fighter he was 5 to 10 years ago.

Yes I do.
2 years out of the sport and the slip in speed and timing he had in the previous 3 fights is a disaster for him if he comes back against any of the top level guys.
I really hope he doesn't attempt a comeback.
