Who has Fres Oquendo kidnapped from the WBA?

So what is happening, Monsieur Oquendo hasn't fought in over 4 years and is mandatory for the title against Charr?
This is the most plastic and pathetic belt in boxing the WBA have 0 credibility I might even go as far as saying the IBO is better than that trash (but then I remember Eubank Jr waving that about..)

I don't think it is "all" Oquendo's fault. If I am not mistaken, he had a signed rematch clause with the WBA and Chagaev after their fight - it went a bits tits up with Chagaev, but likewise tits up with Browne, Briggs and Charr. The fault really lies with the "champions" - Oquendo seems to have agreed to have fought all of them, but all have failed a drugs test! Indeed, you could argue it is lucky he doesn't sue the WBA for loss of earnings.
He knows fighting a legitmate contender will likely end up in a defeat and there goes any title shot and, to be honest, he stands more of a chance against Charr for a "title" then he does a geniune top 15 fighter. Amazingly if he fights and beats Charr he is mandatory for AJ! Although likely he will fight Miller first.

If the WBA got rid of all their multi title bull shit, they could have had Oquendo Vs Joshua...heh

No, the winner of Charr v Oquendo must box the winner of Bryan v Miller (or presumably Bryan if Miller boxes Joshua next)

He's had a court ordered title shot for many years.

You think the boys at the WBA laugh when one of his title shots get cancelled again because they know he's older, and less likely to win now or do they just wish like the rest of us that they could get this sh*t over with, and get this f*cking guys name off their sh*t

I wonder if Fres even wants to fight. He has not been in the ring for years, is pretty much retired and feet up but has this court ordered thing to deal with. I wonder if he just wants it over with as much as the rest of us so that he can retire with a little top up to his pension pot

Yes, perhaps I was over confidently predicting Miller will beat Bryan.

Has Oquendo or his camp replied to this announcement yet? I haven't heard anything.

I'm going to applaud the wba for their use of 3 belts in preventing oquendo/Joshua.

It would be funny if, after all this, it turns out he died a few years ago.
Actually that sounds incredibly heartless. Best of luck to Fres and all that, but seriously he has no business contesting versions of the world heavyweight championship.

Neither does Charr.

I don't understand why the WBA doesn't just retire this title. It's made them into a laughing stock. Is the tiny sanctioning fee really worth the damage to the brand?

You wonder how much more damaged the brand can get Jim. Anyone with a WBA belt is pretty much the equivalent of anyone with a WBO belt in the 90's. You might well be a good fighter, but your belt is tainted.

I think they've kept this one specifically to satisfy the court mandate for fres.

I still haven't heard of any commentary from Oquendo's camp. Has he accepted? 4.5 years away from the ring makes me suspicious of this fight ever happening (again).

You're asking the wrong guy. I only care about a handful of heavyweight fights a year. I would call the police if these guys tried to fight in my backyard.

LOL! It was a general post, not directed at you, but that was funny!
