MANILA, Oct. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- A grand rematch between Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao and his opponent International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight titlist Juan Marquez of Mexico has been confirmed.

American Promoter Murad Muhammad confirmed the other day that the two will fight for the unified world featherweight boxing championship next February in Las Vegas, Nevada, the United States, sports officials said Friday.

Pacquiao ended in a controversial draw with Marquez after knocking down his opponent three times in the first bell in a 12-round match in Las Vegas in May this year.

The earlier booked fight of Pacquiao against crowned World Boxing Council super featherweight champion Mexican Erik Morales in late July were canceled because Pacquiao injured his left hand during the Marquez fight, said Muhammad.

Another plan of a rematch between Pacquiao and former world featherweight great Marco Antonio Barrera of Mexico originally scheduled in November also ended in vain

At the time Marquez hinted he wouldn't go for a rematch as he felt he had won the fight anyway but i knew he would be back for more, he knows he has the beating of Pacquiao. With the Morales-Barrera III match signed and now Pacquiao-Marquez rematch in the balance isn't it great when the best fight the best.

I still think it will be a tough fight to be honest, although I agree that Marquez will be the victor.

I also pick Morales to beat Barrera on points or even a late stoppage.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that Marquez stops Pacquaio. I also think Barrera is going to get beaten up and stopped. Don't think it's going to be a close fight.

Another one of those fights in which there seems to be an atlantic devide about the scoring. All the American posters I have spoken too (and apparently the US commentary) saw Pacquiao a close but clear winner. Alot are tipping him to do it in the rematch.

It is quite amazing the perception of scoring, these guys know their stuff but score fights completely different to me. Mayweather vs Castillo 1 was another one. Some yanks who saw Harris vs Urkal 1 (the rematch is probably going on as I speak) scored it for Harris aswell.

I scored Urkal/Harris 1 for Harris easily. He was always landing the harder blows. Urkal was rushing and slapping a lot, one of the reasons his KO% is so bad. I know lots of people who also scored it for Harris as well.

Speaking of one dimentional as a lot of people are accusing Pacquaio of being. Did the people who said that happen to see Juan Manuel Marquez's last fight? Now THATS one dimentional, Marquez CANNOT fight on the front foot at all and can only counterpunch. He looks incredibly uncomfortable when going forward and needs his opponent to come to him.

I think Marquez will definately have the beating of Pacquiao this time, the first fight went exactly the way i expected it too apart from the knockdowns of course. I was unimpressed with Marquez in his fight with Salido but couldn't really make out his weaknesses, it was hard to focus with all the booing going on behind me :D I doubt he left second gear.

As for Morales-Barrera i tend to agree with the general consensus of a Morales win and probably on points but a late stoppage is not out of the question...a win for Morales must surely make him a serious P4P claimant.

I feel sorry for these two if they have to go through 12 rounds like that again. Don't want to miss it though.

I'd tend to think it'll be safetly first this time, like MAB/Morales 2 - but you just know PacMan is gonna be bombs away.
