Is this the first ever Matchroom show or Live show in general to take place from Peterborough?

They’ve been shows in Peterborough before but they’ve been fairly small shows. Cello Renda is probably the most well known fighter to have come from there in recent years.

The arena can hold around about 5,000 people and they only sell a few thousand more than that for the football team.

I work in Peterborough so if I can make it I’ll probably try and get some tickets depending on the quality of the show.

Same. I didn’t realise he even had a connection to Peterborough - I was pretty sure he was from near Cambridge.

 It’s 40 miles and an hour’s drive between the 2 places. Manchester and Liverpool are closer.

Gill fighting a Mexican fella called Emmanuel Dominguez, had a look at his record there, he was stopped by Navarette and outpointed by Toka Kahn Clary who Galahad beat in America I'm sure, I like the look of Gill he stopped a very good fighter in Doyle to win the Commonwealth last time out, I just hope they don't rush him, I would've liked to have seen him defend the title and/or go for the British, looks like their going for the world ranking route via International/Inter Continental or whatever

I am sure he won't be rushed - he has a very padded record but that isn't his fault looking forward to March's boxing stacked month!

An hour's drive to cover 40 miles?

Maybe if you drive with the handbrake on ;-)

His record page says he is from Huntingdon, which is a bit closer to Peterborough than Cambridge is.

Not sure he has the following to warrant a 5000 capacity arena though, might have been better off fighting in Newmarket Garden centre.

Gill was really impressive against Ryan Doyle, interested to watch his progression in the coming months/how quickly he may be moved should he be successful this weekend (23rd fight).

Riakporhe v McCarthy looks like it could be a decent bout on the undercard, Riakporhe's fight with Hyde was pretty tight until that horrific eye injury for Hyde, if I remember rightly.

Yeh. Can’t even get a regular world title fight on Sky anymore. I guess maybe in a few years. There’s lot of young guys coming up. Not ready for world level yet but one day maybe. Ritson and Cheeseman have been stopped in their tracks, but they can comeback from it.

Really impressed with Gill again, he did get involved in a few wild exchanges which he'll need to reign in when he moves up the levels but I thought he was near flawless, like Wood earlier he picked his shots nicely, looked relaxed and showed good variety to the head and body, I did wonder if Dominguez was gonna be one of the tough hombres who would take clean shots and keep coming, Gill was accurate and spiteful though and even though his record suggests he's not a puncher he looks like he hits hard, I thought the ref could've stopped it after the second knockdown, Dominguez's legs were gone and I wasn't surprised Gill got him out of there straight away

Look forward to seeing Gill again, its a pity him and Wood are good mates, a fight between them would be a great domestic scrap

Charlie Edwards is defending his world title on their next U.K. based show on March 23rd.

I don’t mind these NextGen cards and I think the 2 U.K. shows late March are good. I didn’t particularly like the Cheeseman card a few weeks ago and it’s those kind of shows that I think need improving but at least the next 2 shows are decent.

I’m aware of Edwards. I’m glad he won the world title, but he’s not really a headliner is he? Good for him that he’s getting the opportunity, if he can headline in front of some home fans then good for him.

I just hope he’s a better world champion than Kal Yafai.
