Christopher Diaz vs Shakur Stevenson

Its being rumored that Diaz will no longer be fighting Jessy Magdaleno. Instead he will be facing Stevenson at the Crawford-Khan undercard. Interesting matchmaking there. Diaz has a lot of potential and is now being trained by Freddy Roach but this type of match makes it look like they lost faith on him. He showed defensive flaws against Ito but with time and the right team he can go places. Stevenson is being groomed to be a superstar but they might be taking a big risk here.

You're right!! Definitely a huge, risky step for Stevenson!! I'd be surprised it Top Rank doesnt veto this one for the near future as too risky for a pet prospect like Shakur, who needs a few more fights IMO before taking such a risk.

So do you think Stevenson is ready for Diaz right now? Or do you agree Shakur should probably have a few more fights before facing him?

He is ready. After olympic experience and 10 pro fights, you should step up and this is it.

Fair enough, altho I think he needs a few more fights. I actually consider Shakur a slight favorite, but I'm surprised Arum is letting him take such a risky fight. Bingo Bob is usually very cautious with his top prospects & Stevenson is clearly one of Top Rank's best prospects!!
