Jose Ramirez vs Jose Zepeda

Ramirez defends his WBC Super Lightweight title against Zepeda on Box/nation this weekend, another Sunday/Monday show from America, looking forward to it, haven't seen Zepeda since the world title fight with Flanagan down at Lightweight and that fight was over before it begun, Zepeda obviously dislocated his shoulder and had to retire after 2 rounds, shame as it was just shaping up nicely, he's won about 7 on the spin since then, a 1st round KO over Ammeth Diaz probably the most noticible win, he came into the Flanagan fight with a big punching rep and I'm looking forward to seeing what he's like properly

I really rate Ramirez I think he holds his own with Prograis, Taylor etc, he's a great all rounder, he's quick, skillfull, can box or fight and mixes his shots up well, coming off 2 dominant wins over Imam and Orozco which were possible hard fights on paper but he was excellent both times

Both Mexican and love a tear up so it should gel for a cracker

Not ideal timing for us UK fans in the early hours of a Monday morning but looking forward to this one, should be a cracker.

Really good fight.

I rate Ramirez a lot and will have a few quid on him to triumph via points.

Him versus the WBSS winner could be a huge fight next year.

He’s a huge draw in Fresno but I’m expecting Top Rank to start gradually moving him to LA.

Okada vs Beltran on the undercard should be a solid scrap. Unbeaten Japanese fighter in his second US bout vs grizzled veteran who appears to be showing a lot of wear and tear

Ramirez fights are must watch. He's been in some crackers and really lets his hands go.

Just watched this back from last night, very close contest. Zepeda took the early rounds and boxed nicely from the outside before Ramirez worked his way back in, thought Zepeda may have pinched it but tight either way.

Beltran V Okada was a pretty action-packed fight beforehand too, plenty of trading on the inside but Ray got the job done late after a big right hand scored his 2nd knockdown :TU:

I enjoyed that it was a good little fight, I thought Zepeda edged it 115-113 but I knew Ramirez would've got it, I wouldn't say I thought Zepeda was robbed because it was closely fought but the commentary were all vying for a place on Ramirez's balls it was Sky-esque cheerleading, they were ignoring a lot of Zepeda's work and giving Ramirez credit for blocked punches, I liked Zepeda he's more of a technican than I thought he'd might be going off his high KO%, he really worked that southpaw left hand well all night, driving it straight down the pipe of Ramirez

Ramirez's size and strength looked like it might tell in the second half as he started to land and back Zepeda up around about 7,8 rounds but I thought Zepeda got his second wind and got back on track, I did give Ramirez the last but still had Zepeda nicking it, shout out to his defensive skills as well he made Ramirez miss a lot

Good win for Ramirez all the same, I thought Zepeda exposed some flaws defensively but he's relentless and never stops coming forward and trying and it paid of here

Two good fights.

I personally had 115-113 for Ramirez.

I can see Top Rank trying to make Ramirez against Beltran now.

I’ve got no time for Beltran. He’s a drug cheat who’s somehow had it swept under the carpet, I found all the green card stories tedious on the back of the drugs.

Yeah I used to like Beltran a lot, seen a lot of him on FNF over the years and he was always matched tough at his level. I felt for him when he had to settle for a draw against Burns but after failing weight for the Ao fight then failing a test after he started KTFO out of everyone put me right off him

beltran was the smaller mexican povetkin, for a while he suddenly turned into on one of boxings biggest ktfo artists!

Exactly this.
He was a skilled fighter but never had any one punch power.
Then all of a sudden late in his career he was hitting like a truck.
It was so blatant yet he’s still paraded as a hero by Top Rank because of all the traction they got out of the green card story.

Another good scrap involving Ramirez but not quite as pulsating as his last 2 fights.

Felt it could have gone either way, Zepeda gave him fits with his awkward angles, but Ramirez just keeps plugging away until the job was done.

Excellent chief supporting contest too. If Beltran is of the PEDS now, that was an impressive performance and really good punch power. There's still life in him yet.

Ramirez - Beltran next one assumes.

Just did some rankings for this weight.

I had Ramirez in at 3 behind Taylor and Prograis.
