Sibbo was a moody fighter but lethal at his best.

To the best of my knowledge no footage exists of the Sibson - Classen promotion.
Not much in "Boxing News" either at that time. Some problems with BM calling the opponents too bad.
Mickey Duff and Co. did not like that.

I wrote Tony's biography in 2014 and got to know him very well. As part of the project I had to study a lot of his fights some of which had been collected by a friend who'd followed him from very early days.
One thing I learned from watching these fights was how Tony could block or slip punches as he moved into attack. What a puncher he was. His best performances in my opinion were against Lucas, Minter and Collins.
Very humble and shy man but I'd consider him to have been a born fighter with a naturally hard punch. Tremendous left hook.

I remember watching the Sibson-Davison fight. He took it to him. That was a huge win for him at the time.

The Davidson fight was an elimination to fight Hagler.

I spoke to Tony very closely about the Hagler fight and I examined the preparations and the build up. Tony didn't want me to include any of this in the book because It would seem like excuses ( but I put it in anyway). All he would say was that he wished the fight had went to the later rounds.
1 About a week before he left the UK there was a photo shoot arranged for the press at his gym. A bus load were sent up from London. Tony arrived late and his manager was raging. He had to jump straight into the ring for a sparring session. He got caught on the nose ( probably broken) and the session was stopped. He didn't spar again in the UK or America before the fight.
2 On the night of the fight his relatively immature corner ( in terms of world level competition) bought him a brand new protector and shoes. The protector was for a heavyweight and too big. The had to cut it to pieces and hold it together with tape. It bothered him the whole fight ( see the video). The new boots were hurting him the whole fight. At the end in the dressing room the biggest injury weas to his feet they were soaking in blood.
3 Tony and his team went to the ring far too early. He lost concentration and was waving to family and friends and pointing out celebrities in the crowd. Meanwhile Hagler was ready for action.
Again, no excuses from Tony. The best man won on the night.
