There always seems to be discussions about the mentalist fighters outside the ring and the lists endless but a lot of so called madmen are quite cool more often than not when they box, Duran and Tyson were quite controlled when they boxed despite Leonard 2 and Holyfield 2, Monzon led a crazy life but in the ring he was the master of calmness and composure


Andrew Golota sticks out for me, I still cant get my head around both Bowe fights and why the fvck he would throw away fights he was winning by hitting Bowe low constantly, it bends my head still, the fight with Tyson was bizarre as well

I suspect 99% of people on here have seen the Golota/Bowe fights but if you haven't then I strongly suggest you give them a watch, just insane

Ricardo Mayorga may take the cake as the craziest in-ring antics, including smoking cigarettes in the ring after bouts. Something was/is definitely wrong with this individual.

they were rough housing and the guy pushed him i think so he responded back by kicking him in the leg, he used to be a kickboxer. then the guy was angry at that and i think left the ring for a moment but then came back, but they dqd him anyway. at least if i remember right

Ok, that is 'crazy.' Bizarre more like it!

There's plenty of instances where guys have lost it in the ring, McCall from the other fights I've seen was pretty normal but had a mental breakdown in the Lewis rematch , like Duran and Tyson who I mentioned in the OP, they were all fairly professional in the ring 9 times out of 10, whereas Golota had a continuous habit of flipping his lid

I only know of Butler for that shocking sucker punch so not sure if he had previous of being a maniac in the ring, think he murdered Max Kellerman's brother didn't he?

Couple of this guy , one serious screw loose , a white supremist , who was put in a nuthouse ,escaped because he wanted to be with his boyfreind , curently serving time for raiding a brothel , marching the girls and customers , naked to the police station so they can be arrested, apparantly not the first time he done it , this time 2017 he got 3 years

lol i remember that guy, he flattened arlovski in arlivski first mma fight i think

He'd often stand in the middle of the ring with his hands down, saying "hit me hit me" and would often then get floored lol

Matthew Saad Muhammad is the craziest boxer I've ever seen. He would smile at opponents when he was under fire and soak it all up until his opponents began to flag. Then he would pour it on and stop them in the later rounds. It was a strategy but not a strategy to be recommended.

In terms of entertainment or antics these spring to mind :

Jorge Paez and Naseem Hamed

Worst ever pre fight entrance/dance has to be Sederick Fields.

There was also some fella who came into the ring in a tuxedo against Johnny Nelson (I think) and did some elaborate dance moves and when the 1st bell went got put over with the first punch of the fight

Bowe was involved in a few crazy situations in the ring though he was generally on the receiving end, you had both Golota fights, his fight with Elijah Tillery who kicked out at him leading to Rock Newman tag teaming him out of the ring and of course the Fan Man incident.

Johnny Tapia & Aaron Pryor. Both had a ‘devil may car’ attitude in the ring. Pryor slightly before my time but I’ve seen most of his fights. I will go to my grave saying he would have beaten Ray Leonard at 140. He wasn’t just good. He was scary.

Mayorga came to mind straight away... Augustus was crazy in the ring but think it was more for entertainment value.
