To one extent some fighters have been blessed by taking on fighters, Jamie Moore for example, it happened to Farnell too, also Shane McGuigan.
Of course being given good fighters shouldn't detract from your own abilities
Some trainers can get good fighters and take them to another level, others are fantastic at developing fighters, but you can only work with what you have.
Also there are some trainers who are great for fitness and this can see some fighters home.
I rate Gary Lockett, also Carl Greaves goes under the radar. Tesco gets a lot of stick, perhaps he concentrates a lot on conditioning rather than nouse, but has consistently produced good fighters.
Harry Andrews is a good trainer too.

I think one of the reasons tesco gets stick is the style he likes his fighters to box.
Is Harry Andrews the man who was working with Barry smith not to long ago at West Ham boxing club. Trains Siar Ozgul?

It's very, very hard to judge trainers.

Like how can you judge (say) Don Charles on Del-Boy. Chisora is a force of nature who just does whatever he wants. He can put in a great performance and a shocker back-to-back and it's impossible to say if Charles is too blame for either or none. Ben Davidson could be a genius or lucky and I don't really know how you'd tell.

When Manny Steward used to talk, it sounded like a boxing Einstein. Always some little thing you hadn't considered, some detail or other. And he completely turned Wlad round for example. I just don't think any UK trainer is anywhere near that.

Tony Sims and Tesco Joe seem to me to be uninspiring characters, never say anything perceptive between rounds and often seem bereft of so much as a game plan. But then WHO T. F. am I to think that when they've got incredible CVs and boxers flocking to join their camps ? The idea that they're rubbish and would have much more successful stables with someone else in charge seems so unlikely as to border on stupidity.
And yet and yet..., Enzo Calzaghe was a musician with no boxing background and he trained multiple British, European and World champions - and you never felt he was holding any of his guys back, so maybe British trainers are crap ?

Certainly not me.

If I had to pick one it would be Adam Booth. He seems to get inside the head of his fighters - the whole 'dark Jedi Lord' thing he has going on. GG seemed to lose something when he left him - take Froch 1 - GG seemed to blow a winnable fight there and I just get the feeling that Booth in the corner might have got George over the line.
Honourable mention to Shane McGuigan - he rebuilt Groves and took Frampton to the top.

I wonder which amateur trainers have produced the most British champions? Does anybody know?

Micky May West Ham is a Legend don't know exactly how many champions but well in the 100's as an Amateur.. A few that turned over and done good was Kevin Lear Matthew Marsh, Gary Delaney, Steve Roberts. Anyone think of any other he had?

McCracken stands out for me - has delivered the goods in the ams and pros and have always been impressed by his corner performance in fights as well.

I think that's partly because to his credit he never seems to seek the limelight himself.

Exactly that, gets on with his job quietly and efficiently. Says something that AJ never let him go from the amateur days.

McCracken, Sims, Booth.... all seem pretty good.

But as the poster above says its very hard to tell as a lot comes down to the talent of the fighter, or stable of fighters, they have to work with.

I could suddenly become Gervonta Davis and Terence Crawford's trainer tomorrow and they'd still probably kick ass. I would then have a resume that says I've trained world champion fighters......but it wouldn't be down to me very much would it......

i think it is tough because it really can come down to one punch , as if a trainer has the most champs he will get the reputation . i like adam booth , really down to the style of his fighters , Robert McCracken comes across well. did like bredan ingle probably the first coach for me that was just as known as his fighters

is peter fury still trainging a lot of fighters, seems quite these day
