Boxing Life Stories - Alexander Frenkel

Anyone listened to former BN editor Tris Dixon's podcast series, Boxing Life Stories? Well worth a listen if you haven't, some great interviews with the likes of Adam Booth, Enzo Mac, Gary Lockett and loads of others.
This week his guest is Kalle Sauerland, and they get onto the topic of Enzo Mac being knocked out by Alexander Frenkel. Kalle says he hadn't talked about it before but the truth as to why Frenkel never boxed again is far stranger than the rumoured failed brain scan.
He apparently developed schizophrenia and became very violent, ultimately culminating in an attack on someone, and a spell in a mental institution now.
Had never heard a word of it before! Very revealing interview though and if you haven't heard it already, it's a great series to check out.

Oooof, I often wondered about him as he went quiet post-Enzo. I'd heard he suffered from depression.

Literally just finished the Sauerland episode and loved it! Thought Kalle came across really well and would take Tris all day, every day over the likes of Gareth A Davies...

I've never ever heard Booth be as open about his personal life as in that episode.

Yeah, seems less like the verbal sparring and trying to 'win' the conversation that he does on IFL interviews.

Yeah I like Booth and IFL but they are cringeworthy interviews. Seems that Booth and Tris are genuine mates from the podcast.

Nearly finished the Booth one now and it's gold. Just feel it's absolutely criminal that these podcasts are sliding under the radar - the Booth one was wrapped in September of last year and yet thanks to this thread even 'hardcores' like us are only finding out about it now. Tris is a great interviewer and these podcasts really do deserve a far larger audience.

I'd actually be interested to hear Tris interview John Shepherd about the background of Boxrec and the role it has in the sport.
