Brandon Rios vs Humberto Soto

Interesting match up tomorrow on DAZN. We could say both are equally past their prime which makes it as competitive as it would have been a bunch of years ago. I wish we could get more of these match ups among faded names instead of miss matches where they just get served as stepping stones. If they are healthy enough to compete at least give them a fighting chance. They might not put some prospect over but at least they get to entertain.

Really good fight but very strange undercard. Think Rios fairly wide on points

Rios always had an iron jaw to depend on.
But then Garcia shattered it.
Makes you wonder if there's anything left for Rios to offer in the ring.

DAZN loaded the undercard with prospects, both Mexicans and Americans and even a hot Uzbek prospect who won silver at the 2016 Olympics.
http://boxrec.com/en/event/782907
* 16-0 Hector Tanajara vs once-beaten Ivan Delgado
* Unbeaten ex-Olympians Joselito Velazquez & Shakhram Giyasov
* Undefeated Mexican super light prospect Omar Aguilar
* Teenage US ex-amateur stars Diego Pacheco & Alex Espino
Televised nationally in Mexico on TV Azteca!!

Rios should stop soto, if he sets the pace he did against Alvarez he will anyway.

Just switched on. Tanajara fighting. He won the first comfortably.

Wtf is going on in that Tanjara fight. The officials don't seem to know the rules. Surely if Tanjara couldn't continue due to a headbutt (which was deemed deliberate by the ref who took a point off) then it's a DQ?
Circus.

Weird stoppage. Tanajara cut in the 3rd from a clash of heads. The ref deducts a point between the 3rd and 4th rounds, presumably due to the head clash. Fight then ends after the 4th due to an accidental head clash. Didn't see anything more in round 4 and the cut was small, not bleeding. All pretty strange.

Yeah I think they announced an accidental head clash but I'm not giving it my full attention. The cut was absolutely nothing too.

But it can't be accidental because ref took a point off.
There also wasn't 4 rounds complete at time of the clash, there's a stronger case for a No Contest than a TD.

Farcical. The commentators didn't seem to have a clue either.

Is that 8 or 10 round's fight? And what is the result?

Those cards were so awful you have to assume they were pre-written. I had it a draw.

Rios punches were woeful. He would throw 7 or 8 at a time, with barely any power and perhaps only 1 landing. Fights are scored primarily on clean punching, Soto won that fight easily. Got a nice win betting Soto but still down given how long Joyce took to finish Stiverne.

Thought it was close but can just about see how you could get to them scores. After round 4, every round followed the same pattern. Rios following Soto around the ring throwing more but not landing much. Somewhere between 30 and 45 seconds to go and Soto starts throwing in combination hoping to nick rounds. If you give every such round to Soto then he won pretty wide.
