"Will is more important than skill." Cus D'Amato

Stiverne gave me the idea for this, so he is first on the list.

Worst Disciplined

Bermaine Stiverne
Leon Spinks
Greg Page

Best Disclined or did the best with what they had

Ali
Frazier
Marciano
Boom Boom Mancini
Duane Bobick- He got a lot out of what he was given.

There are a lot more, but I'm not awake yet. :OhYes: Please add on.

There's a lot on both sides of this question.

Best
I'll go with a couple of Brits first - Carl Froch and Josh Warrington
Holyfield
Henry Armstrong

Worst
Duran (later career)
Buster Douglas
Toney

Best:
Hagler
Joshua
Monzon
Wlad Klitchko

Worst:
Golota
Stiverne (not just this past fight)
Ruiz JR
Buster Douglas (except for one fight)

HW's are the easiest to list under worst, as they obviously don't have to make weight.

Golota actually trained hard from what I know, but man he fell apart in at least 3 fights.

True, but discipline is also sticking to the fight plan and being disciplined IN the ring! If no shots to the nutsach, Golota beats Bowe. :OhYes:

Golota trained well, but fell apart in fights. Leon Spinks trained on 12 ounce curls and finger to mouth reps but gave it his all once the bell rang. :OhYes:

Hopkins, FMM as examples of the best disciplined.

Hatton was a weird one, terrible in between fights but whipped himself into great condition for a fight. Ultimately all the weight gain between fights took its toll.

Lots of your recent Heavyweights don't rank very highly on the discipline chart.

I'd say the Klitschko's were both quite disciplined.

Gavilan? Can you elaborate? In my lifetime I'd say hagler, Hopkins and Floyd stand out. Least I gotta go with Bert Cooper.

I am surprised no one disagreed so far. That may be true for the latter part of his career, but difinitely not for the period when he was with Cus/Rooney.

So many on his list are shocking. Mike list his shit in there so I can't argue that one. But he was always in shape, including the Douglas fight.

I'm assuming this is about the so-called best of the sport being the best or worst disciplined--- rather than encompassing the entire sport. One can make the case the least disciplined of the elite was Harry Greb even though he's among the best ever--- he trained on whiskey and whores, in that order.
