Fury Wilder Rematch Officially Off

The WBC has confirmed there will be no rematch next for Tyson Fury & Deontay Wilder, but it may happen at a later date.
Looking for link. As reported by Boxing Squared. Breazeale/Wilder next? FFS I'm so sick of this sport's inability to make the proper matches!!!

As soon as Fury signed with new promotional company, I figured this would be delayed. Now we have to wait and see how each will fight next. On the bright side, it's an extra HW match we have to look forward to. (hopefully). I've heard Fury/Parker mentioned, as well as Wilder/Breazeale.

Terrific 20/20 hindsight!

For me I'm just disappointed that they couldn't make the fight. Apparently Fury had a 50/50 deal on his lap and he opted out. That's the first published report on a reason. Of course, we could hear different, but it doesn't matter anymore as to why. Fargin' Bastidges!

I was just typing about those as you posted. Unfortunately i see there being an obvious favourite in those fights but they will be the third toughest opponents either of them have faced. Not sure what this does for Whyte and Chisora (because of Breazeale and Parker).

It's ironic that the guy who fought his way to a title (Whyte) is out in the cold. Chisora will have options as a gatekeeper. Someone is going to have to look at Ortiz/Hammer winner (Ortiz), as opponents are evaporating. Maybe Usyk/Chisora.

i was always questioning whether it would happen, ppl shouldnt act like its signed when it wasnt and furys own trainer was open about not wanting it next.
what was the reason? he doesnt think 50 was enough?

That's all true, but no one on this thread so far assumed this was a done deal.

you pretty much are though when you say 'fury/wilders got wilder/fury next' and rule out other fights for them

They were clearly in negotiations and it did sounded optimistic with no other opponents mentioned, so yes in that regard you are right. In other threads I made that assumption when discussing other HW's potential opportunities.

It depends whether the WBC still offer Whyte a shot at this Interim title (against Kownacki or Ortiz?) even though the full title is being defended. Even an eliminator for the mandatory spot won't see him fight the champ until summer 2020, last time that happened he went for a money fight instead.
However, there's hope:

Arum thinks that it needs to marinate and be built up more.
The first fight didn't do boffo sales, just 325,000.
And rematches historically attract fewer buys.
Let Fury and Wilder take a couple more fights first to rebuild interest.
It can wait until 2020.

The reason is simple.
Bob Arum.
As soon as he got involved Wilder/Fury 2 went dead in the water.
They won't be fighting in the fall either. They can say they want to fight in the fall but that's a load of crap. Arum will shut down a fall fight too.

ESPN: Top Rank has informed the WBC and Deontay Wilder’s camp that Tyson Fury will fight in May or June and then seek the heavyweight title rematch with Wilder in the fall, a source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN on Tuesday. The WBC had asked for the camps to clarify the state of their talks for an immediate rematch by Wednesday night after Fury surprisingly signed with Top Rank last week, putting the prospect of an immediate rematch of their December draw in doubt. Top Rank is also seeking to sign Wilder to a multi-fight agreement that would include the rematch.

thats why wilder turned down the big offer he got for whyte a while back, didnt want to sign himself away to matchroom to have options, i dunno, not too optimistic that will work out

He doesn't want to be controlled and as the WBC titleholder maybe feels he doesn't need that.
Maybe we get Wilder/AJ this year. Maybe Fury/AJ. Who knows. It's all wide open now.
