Dawejko takes Kuzmin to the limit!

Joey Dawejko gave Sergey Kuzmin everything he could handle and more, taking Kuzmin the distance in dropping a majority decision 94-96, 94-96, 95-95.

Most observers didn't give the tough Dawejko much of a chance, but that's how Joey likes it. Kuzmin will have to go back and see where he struggled and how to improve. Kuzmin's BoxRec ranking was too high, IMHO and this fight shows that plus exhibits all the reasons why I love Joey D! Tough loss Joey, but thanks for grinding this one out. Scoring could have gone either way.

Didn't we both predict Joey to give him fits?

Dawejko is skilled and tough. He has IMO some unnecesary weight that hold him back. He is still only 28 so good luck for him :box: :box: :box:

Well, he's tough, but he doesn't really have the potential to challenge the top guys. And gradually I think the same about Kuzmin, who had a pretty even fight against Price and now had so unconvincing performance against even a less talented guy.

Fair assessment if what we see of Kuzmin is what he is. The only small reservation before final judgment is we don't know how motivated he was fighting Price or Dawejko. Sometimes these fringe fighters come up with great motivation when a bigger challenge arises.

That can be true, but I don't believe in it much in the current case. Kuzmin is sluggish, doesn't possess much power, as well as size and athleticism. Some saw him as next Povetkin, but Povetkin was and is much more skilled and sharp.
