Tommy Morrison vs. George Foreman, 1993

Observation: They had much much much better ref and commentators and judges back then than they do now.
If you've seen Vitali you've seen a better chin. Vitali was not only never down but he was never hurt in a fight.
And, before anyone chimes in, Foreman was down and out against Ali, knocked down and almost counted out against Ron Lyle, and knocked down by boxer JImmy Young. No, not the same chin as Vitali.sturm vogel wrote: ↑12 Mar 2019, 19:46If you've seen Vitali you've seen a better chin. Vitali was not only never down but he was never hurt in a fight.

It's ok, you can say freak show.sturm vogel wrote: ↑13 Mar 2019, 19:38 Valuev was a special interest interest fighter. Sort of like Primo Carnera of this day.
Yes, he was so good that he fought the grand total of one great fighter in his entire career. How did that turn out again?Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑12 Mar 2019, 22:58sturm vogel wrote: ↑12 Mar 2019, 19:46If you've seen Vitali you've seen a better chin. Good point, SV. Vitali was the best ever. He was so good that he usually didn't even bother to hold his hands up to protect himself. He just held his arms down at his side. What's up with him anyway? Is he still mayor of Kiev? How about Nicolai Valuev, does he still have a children's tv show?
LOL! Don't even bother. They are both in la la land over Vitali and his poor resume.hhaehre wrote: ↑15 Mar 2019, 11:20Yes, he was so good that he fought the grand total of one great fighter in his entire career. If you're talking about the Lewis fight I know exactly about that fight as I watched it very carefully in stop motion and saw how Lewis first opened up the cut on Vitali's face by raking his glove lacing across it and then spent the rest of the night rubbing his hair and glove into it. An honest ref - but they don't make many of them anymore - would have disqualified him. Vitali had never before been cut in his entire boxing and prior kickboxing career.
In terms of Vitali proving his chin? Pretty well, Lewis could bang too.hhaehre wrote: ↑15 Mar 2019, 11:20Yes, he was so good that he fought the grand total of one great fighter in his entire career. You heard it before many times because it is true. I even kept notes when I slow mo'd and paused it noting down the exact times that Lewis did the above, but unfortunately I lost the notes., but as far as I know the fight film is still online and someone else can do what I did. Try it yourself. Watch it very carefully with your finger on the pause button and with an objectively impartial eye. Start with Lewis raking his glove across Vitali's face.
As you know Vitali was ahead on all cards but the fight was stopped because of the cut that Lewis deliberately opened up and then worked on all night. Some other fights of Lewis seemed suspicious. Golota and Tyson both looked as if they were drugged. Golota I don't know what the hell was going on with him. The book has yet to be written on him. Tyson looked like he was on cloud nine. Both looked they were doped to the gills though. But in Vitali's case it was blatant right in your face dirty fighting with the referee's collusion. Par for the course in boxing.

I think Mavrovik would have won that fight if he wasn't giving away thirty pounds, like he was in a whole different weight class.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑15 Mar 2019, 14:12 The legendary Zeljko Mavrovic fought 12 rounds against a prime Lewis and went the distance without getting knocked down. .
