MAYBE Oscar Rivas. Also heard Bryant Jennings. Both fights are one-sided. Fury's first fight on ESPN will be a very favorable matchup for the Gypsy King.

Didnt Rivas have issues with one of his eyes? Thought he was practically blind in one of them and cant get licensed in certain states...or have i made this up?

True. He had eye issues earlier in his career. Haven't heard of any problems in last several years, nor problems getting licensed but you never know.

i see ppl pooping on it but i dont think its bad. unbeaten olympian who just knocked out bryant jennings.

Very disappointing to be honest.
Jennings was beating him before getting stopped!
Fury has always been a tad cautious when there’s no big prize on the line. It’s worked for him so far but it screams of double standards when he is knocking everyone else’s fights, against better opponents too. The worry is now he has the big deal he’ll just face shite after shite.
Rivas or Jennings is jank for Fury. Pretty much pointless imo.
Parker, Pulev, Whyte, Ortiz, Povetkin would all be much better opponents. I’d take Hunter v Fury over Rivas too, they even have a bit of amateur background too there.

i think rivas is pretty evenly matched vs guys like parker and pulev. he already knocked pulev outta the olympics omg and parker never beats any half decent fighter convingly. rivas was ahead vs jennings btw. rivas is probably a top 12 hw. its not that bad but its nothing exciting obviously either

Rivas vs Parker would be a decent matchup. Pulev, you never know, but probably on par with Rivas as well. Yes he failed the NY state exam and couldn’t fight Washington a couple of years back. His recent fights on US soil have been under Native American commissions not State so maybe there is an issue there...

It is a credible enough opponent coming off a decent win. He is no worse than Eric Molina, whom Joshua and Wilder both defended World titles against.
After this I can see Fury taking on a slightly bigger name, like Whyte or Parker, before Arum starts to go to work making the Wilder and/or Joshua fights.

I liked Rivas as an am, been average since turning over. I see a few here are talking him up a bit, he’s not equal to Parker or Pulev imo, not that I rate either that high anyway.
Molina was stay busy for an inexperienced Joshua to be fair. He’d be laughed out the door if taken as a title defence right now.
To be fair though, Fury doesn’t have a title to defend so easier touches are accepted but can’t have it all ways.
Slags off Joshua and Wilder opponents...then fights somebody worse!
I’m just pissed off at the heavyweight landscape and how predictable it all was.

i dont see how its a joke fight.
a guy like joe parker has shown nothing to suggest hed be levels above rivas. joe doesnt convincingly beat anyone who is even part decent.
fury is wrong about ajs opposition. ajs resume is very good and clearly the best at hw. but furys words dont make rivas a bad opponent. rivas though easily stacks up or exceeds many of wilders defense opponents. your talking molina, szpilka, shot arreola, washington, etc

I’d say Parker is above him though, regardless of being levels above. Better wins, better opposition faced, would be a decent marker too given Joshua beat him quite comfortably. I guess I’m disappointed at the situation in the division and Fury, arguably the best in the division, is fighting a relative midget, with short arms and no real standout power and who’s best win is against a past it Jennings. There’s better options out there
Hopefully this is the easing in fight for Tyson with his new deal and next time out will be against a better fighter who actually has something that might ask a question or two.

i think knocking out jennings is just as good as anything parkers done. this fight aint really interesting or anything like that, dont get me wrong, but im surprised to see just how negative a lot of ppl are about it. rivas is hardly some can. he is an unbeaten olympian with a good recent win. i know at least one poster calling this 'sh!t' defended years of worse matchups
rivas imo is at least better and certanly no worse then guys like molina, szpilka, washington, faded arreola, martin, stiverne 2, cojanu, hughie, jennings, perez, hammer, browne, helenius and these types of guys who have featured vs bigger names over the last few years. and then you have guys like chisora and takam who have been reused to the point of boredom

I agree that none of those guys make a more interesting fight than Rivas. For me, I was hoping for Fury to fight someone more up the ladder. Pulev/Ortiz for instance in the very least. But again, it was made clear that he wants an 'interim' fight. Now Bryant Jennings has been mentioned. I'd watch Tyson fight Wilder, Joshua or Povetkin. Nobody else at the moment.

I would agree with you maybee throw in Ortiz ,,, But then again i would say te same about Wilder , he is by far the worst , 2 credible opponents in 40 fights , turning down effectivly 20 mill for breazville , 40 mill to fight AJ , , because after AJ knocks him out there will not be a rematch , he does'nt deserve anyone watching him .
