Mayweather struggled with Maidana. Spence would outwork and outland him.

If you want the very best Mayweather going up against Spence I'm not sure if the 2014 version is the one to go with.

I'd take 2007 Mayweather.

If it has to be the 2014 version, then Spence might have the beating of him.

If it is the Mayweather of the mid to late 00s, then I think he would have edged out Spence.

I’d root for Spence don’t get me wrong.

Still early. We don't know enough about Spence yet. We don't even know if he can take a punch from a murderous puncher and no, Brook is not a murderous puncher.

For the moment I'd pick Mayweather. Spence would have thrown more, but landed less, a typical Mayweather style of a fight. Castillo and Maidana gave Floyd his worst fights, you gotta be a mauling brawler to trouble him, Spence is too methodical, he would have been outboxed, Floyd was better in that sphere.

First, Mayweather is the fighter with the longest prime, it is very difficult to say exactly when he was the best of his own.
Second, I think that only two fighters (considering the last decade, at WW) with the solid chances to defeat Floyd are Spence and Crawford.
I am not sure about LMW, this is a quite different story.
