I know, that's what I've been writing in my preview for this, what an amazing year it's been for Danny. Even if he loses and acquits himself well against Vitali he will be in an excellent position.

I think if Meehan takes his job seriously he has a chance of winning as Rahman's not in shape and not using a trainer is asking for trouble. So even if Danny loses to Klitschko, there's a rematch there that could be pumped quite easily.

I'd have thought Danny could do better than a rematch with Meehan.

Such as? Tyson may be better for Danny financially, but a Meehan who holds a victory over Rahman would be better for Danny in terms of fighting for another world title belt.

Fair point, but does he need to? A Meehan who most think was very unlucky to lose last time and with a win over Rahman would be decent box office. That said, two fringe non-North American heavyweights is going to be a hard sell.

Danny's win over Tyson has propelled him into the top 10, so even if he loses to Ironfist, big matchups will continue. I see fights with Toney, Rahman, Barrett being on the horizon, and another title challenge. At least he's up there now, which he should've been a while ago. Finally, his talents are reaping rewards.

I agree, i think win or lose a good performance by Williams is essential...he showed lots of heart and courage in the fight with Tyson and the yanks love that, the man in front of him Klitschko is proof of that as his value rocketed after blood and guts efforts with Lewis and Sanders. Williams must come to fight and even if he loses on his shield i think he can come again and keep himself in title contention and in the public eye across the pond as well.

The winner of Meehan vs Rahman is the mandatory for the Ruiz vs Golota winner, so if Meehan beats Rahman he will get another shot at a world title.

Just goes to show that your only as good as your last fight!!

One concern I do have about this fight is, as usual about how Dannys mind is come fight time. During and after the Tyson fight Danny often said that he performed better when nobody expected him to win. But against Vitali many are seeing this fight as very competative, so I just wonder what frame of mind Danny will be in come fight time.

sorry to disapoint you but i think this fight will be "a bridge too far" for Williams... though u agree with you on the fact that losing to Sprott really sucks

We'll see about all this. If, as I believe, Danny has benefited massively from fighting somebody who looked like Mike Tyson, he will get walloped by Vitali, probably get a half-decent fight next year some time and lose that too and be back to where he was when Sprott beat him.

He'll have had a great 18 months though believing himself to be one of the best 25 Heavyweights in the world....

Despite what I've said I will be rooting for him come December 11th, it would be great for British boxing and would mean some more big fight nights.

Although I'm 90% certain Klit is going to thrash him I still don't rule out Danny completely, partly due to the nature of Heavyweight boxing and partly because I don't rate Klitschko that much.

Ruiz-Williams would have been a funny fight because lots of people would be tipping Williams big time and I think Ruiz would hammer him, he would maul and outwork Danny all night and he wouldn't know what to do.

You're right. But he was awful though, and didn't get the decision (i still think Sprott's face tells it all).

I don't think he's going to beat Vitali, but it's still an amazing year. To go from a woeful showing for the British title, into a fight for the real world title is a great achievement, regardless of whether he wins or loses.

Even if he does lose, this year has set the bloke up for life. It's quite concievable (if he gives a good account of himself) that he could hang around the fringes of the world scene for a good few years, and pick up some decent scalps and some decent purses.
