Stayed up to watch this and I nearly shít a kitten when the scores were being read out! I was a massive Calzaghe fan and I struggled to watch this! It was a horrid fight! That's why that's me just getting the balls to watch it again now! At the time I thought it was tight but I have to say, watching it back, I had Calzaghe winning by a few rounds. How did everyone else see it?

That's what I was thinking. Calzaghe was a clear winner for me. I had forgot how much of a cùnt BHop was in the build up! Fuckin disgusting behaviour!

joe was bernys daddy, had him totally shelled up and moaning and dropping to knees. also outlanded him by like 100 punches

but hopkins could take a dump and youd get ppl saying it was masterful oldschool boxing

I think because BHop probably landed the harder shots folk were up his arse but unfortunately for him that's not how it works! He made a fuckin career out that kinda thing so he can hardly complain!

I think I had it 6-6 with Hopkins winning due to the knockdown. He countered calzaghe all night. I might have had it 7-5 but I definitely thought Hopkins won

lol he hardly threw punches most of the night and whined like a baby, he was worse then dirrel vs froch, gets way too much credit for his 'boxing' in this fight

His last big performance was probably against Pavlik. He was excellent that night. Gets too much credit for fiddling his way through fights in the latter stages of his career although I do admire him for what he managed to achieve and not so much in the manner he achieved it! He was top class v Trinidad and deffo had his fair share of moments.

Still a wanker though. Racist prick.

I though Calzaghe won 114-113, or 7-5 in rounds. Two very different styles but JC’s work rate was the difference in several key rounds for me.

For me Dirrell beat Froch but it’s not a fight I’d have argued with by a round either way

I think Hopkins did better than expected and managed to nullify much of Calzaghe's workrate. But Joe still won and I think he won clearly.

I used to have this on DVD on watched it loads of times! I was just a Calzaghe casual and took the scoring as gospel and just enjoyed it quite innocently, without all the baggage of being a jaded boxing fan now.

The defining parts of the fight for me were the first round KD (more of a flash off balance type deal) and then Hopkins being unable to keep up with the pace, crying foul and moaning about low blows, with Joe doing an early version of the Maidana/Broner dry hump of B-Hop at one point as he flopped to the floor.

Certainly not Hopkins finest hour.

Nor Joe’s either though.

Hopkins subsequently became a bit of a favourite of mine with what he did to Pavlik and others after.

Last time I watched it I didn’t even really know how to score a fight and I don’t think it would be an especially interesting way to spend 35 minutes of my life so I doubt i’ll ever watch it again.

Exactly the same as me. Anyone who rewatched that fight definitely deserves to be called a hardcore fan, but I’ve never had any interest in rewatching it

For me JC def won, he won his rounds clearly and down the stretch Hopkins was more like a journeyman trying to survive with a few pot shots.

Wasnt a calzaghe fan till the Jeff Lacey fight, not a big fan but respected Joe alot more, when Bhop dropped him in round 1 i was sh1ttin it abit and then the scores came out and i thought bhop had got it,i hvet watched it ince that night as i cant stand hopkins and was absoultley chuffed when Joe Smith dumped the auld b@stard on his head. Even the roy jones jnr rematch he stunk the place out with his moaning and crying to the ref. Cant stand him and hate the way people act like he is the godfather of boxing. He is a disrespectful racist tw@t and thats the nicest way i can describe him.

Hopkins for me - but then I do tend to go for fighters who show ring generalship in my scoring over just sheer agression. I had Dirrell (who fought a similar way) a clear winner vs Froch.

Not saying it wasn't tight, but I just thought Hopkins always (or mainly) seemed to have the last word in the exchanges - his one final punch seem to have as big an impact as Calzaghe's 4-5 prior.

Like Leonard showcase the Ring Generalship vs Hagler - again I liked Leonard in that one.

Out of the three I would say Hopkins vs Calzaghe was the tightest (close though between that and Leonard vs Hagler) - but I saw Hopkins the winner.

I think we have debated this before and we def don't agree on the JC v Bhop fight. Nevertheless I completely agree with you on Froch v Dirrell.
For me the difference was that after early success Bhop's volume dropped alarmingly and he resorted to very negative tactics, whereas JC was non stop and landed enough.
On the other hand I don't think there was a difference in workmate between Dirrel and Froch, but Froch was left swiping at air despite being aggressive leaving himself being caught with smart little counters all night.

There is no doubt that Hopkins' dropped his work rate at the end, and Calzaghe won the later part of the fight..... though for me not enough to win the fight.

But yeah, I am always one to go for ring generalship. I had MAB a handy, handy winner vs Naz also.

I thought the deciding card for Hopkins vs Calzaghe was a joke personally.

I don't think anyone thought Hamed won that fight!
Of course everything is about opinions and you have an opinion which I respect, but we don't see eye to eye here.

Oh yes, MAB won that fight but the score cards were a lot tighter than my score card.... and many thought the judges called it correctly in terms of the wideness of the scores.

I don't have any arguements with anyone who called it 7-5 Calzaghe as many of the rounds were tight.... but I cannot see Calzaghe has a handy winner - especially with the KD and the dominance early of Bhop.

There is a youtube video out there highlighting the "robbery" - whilst I know its bias, I do agree with lots of it..... and I just thought Freddie Roach's lack of urgency in the last few rounds, compared to Enzo - there was a bit of relief there and I thought Roach thought Hopkins was in a lead.

I don't think JC was a handy winner like winning 10 rounds to 2.
Because of what Bhop did in the first few rounds it was a close fight. However I do think JC was a clear winner in that in the last 8 rounds he won his rounds clearly. I don't think there were barely any close rounds, the vast majority were quite clear.

Calzaghe was a clear winner.
His workrate was always amazing and BHop/EX/The Alien was already fighting in spurts. His cleverness made it competitive, but he was trying to hold spoil and nick rounds from as early as the 4th.
I had him winning almost everything after the KD in R1.

I remember BF was 1/3 3/1 Hopkins at the final bell - I had no idea what the market was thinking.
