Gorman Shuts Out Johnson 100-90

Kevin Johnson takes Gorman the distance in a complete shutout. Johnson was a last minute replacement for a late minute replacement and did what he does best...survive. Not sure how much I'd hold Gorman responsible for not having KO'd Johnson, so I won't go there.

hard to really say much about this...because this is basically what heppens when any decent prospect fights kj. win widely but dont stop him. miljas was on a cut.
only aj has really gotten to kev and blasted him out

That's exactly what I alluded to. Gracias!

It proves Gorman is a decent prospect but not as good as AJ.
I guess we knew that already.

He didn't look very good at all, regardless of Johnson's tactics. He never pressed the action and was rather lackluster.
Dubois would thrash Gorman.

It also proved he's not as good as Dubois.
"Triple D" hurt him, nearly had him out, but then ran out of ideas.
Gorman didn't hurt him and never had any ideas in the first place.

I think Ajagba could beat Gorman at this point.

Johnson is a tough nut to knock out.
Joshua pounded him along the ropes beating him half to death.
Johnson can with stand most heavyweight punches.
He's a great guy to get rounds in against. But damn he takes some shots
Can't wait until Johnson fights Agagbe in May.
Which is the rumored next opponent for Efe

Some state commission should order Johnson to undergo extensive medical testing before he's allowed to get battered by Ajagba for who knows how many rounds.
The guy prostitutes himself out as a sturdy punching bag, and it's difficult to believe that these lengthy poundings Johnson routinely receives haven't already had some sort of debilitating effect.

This fight against Gorman was hardly punishing to Johnson. It was a snooze fest. But I understand what you saying. Johnson's only had his lights put out once, against Joshua and that was like four or five years ago.

But it's undoubtedly harder on the body (and brain) to take all the punches over 10 rounds repeatedly, then it is to get KO'd quickly, as Johnson was against Joshua.
To me it just feels wrong that Johnson is casually licensed to fight so many guys who can whack, when it's obvious that he's no longer a serious competitor.

And to think 13 losses he ago, he lost his first fight as a pro against Vitali on points.
Like 10 years ago?

He hasn't shown any signs of being 'damaged.' He's just going out there and making a living. Don't over react to a journeyman doing his job.

Yes, Johnson's first loss was a 12 round dec loss to Vitali. He's durable, no doubt.

Notice that Johnson takes quite a few fights out of the country?
Do you think that maybe there's less scrutiny by some foreign commissions, then he might face if he remained in the US?

I don't consider getting pounded around by fighters like Hrgovic, Dubois, Chisora and now maybe Ajagba "nothing."
Especially when Johnson has reached a career stage when he isn't even trying to win against the better fighters. Shutouts and near shutouts are now routine.
For his sake it would be best to fall quickly to Ajagba instead of being a punching bag for 8 or 10 rounds.
A washed up 39 year old, getting smacked around by Ajagba round after round certainly isn't nothing.

So another one-sided prospect's win over surviving Johnson? Absolutely no surprise here.

It proves Gorman is a decent prospect but not as good as AJ.
I guess we knew that already.
He didn't look very good at all, regardless of Johnson's tactics. He never pressed the action and was rather lackluster.
Dubois would thrash Gorman.
You make it sound like it was a bad performance.
Winning every single round of a fight is far from poor against an awkward opponent who has only ever been cleaned out once in 47 fights, and at very short notice. At least Dubois had a bit of time to prepare against Johnson.

I'm not saying it was a bad performance. Gorman did what he needed to do. I'm saying it wasn't an impressive or especially good performance. It didn't make me think Gorman was any better than I thought before. Did he show you that he was better than his past performances? Gorman couldn't find a way to approach his opponent differently at any time of the fight. He just seemed ok to let it go at Johnson's pace. Remember that Johnson had a lot more time to prepare for Dubois.

I didn't learn a lot about Gorman, but what do you ever expect against a last minute stand in? He demonstrated decent movement, output, and variety. It was a solid performance without being exceptional.
What did I learn about Dubois about the same man? Well, that he has less shot variety, and if he doesn't get his man out of there with plan A, then he quickly runs out of ideas.
Dubois still beats Gorman, but I expect Gorman to outbox Dubois for the first half of the fight before being stopped.
