I just cannot believe Channel 5, which advertised Castillo vs Johnson II as the main event for last nights "Fight of the week" archive, butchered rounds of the "main event" and showed Butterbean's undercard fight in its entirity.

They had time to show the all of the rounds (50 minute show) that was inexcusable.

So I am going to e-mail them venting my frustrations and also mention to them the one off FNF coming up next month.

God a whole show of Butterbean - how horrible.

On a different point regarding Five - how commited do you think they are to boxing now?

For example they have been showing Boxing Academy so will they start to broadcast live shows?

Audley Harrison is looking for a tv netork after all and with the BBC not doing much they may decide to go for it. All guess work and hope on my part.

I'm afraid its all about the money and five are skint. They cannot afford the rights to delayed coverage of big american bills. I have asked already. They can do reality shows such as boxing academy, but that is really all I'm afraid.

I did include in the e-mail a question about if they intend to show the Diaz vs Lorcey fight, because they have a contract with ESPN 2 - and this is the final ESPN 2 boxing card of 2004.

Channel 5 do a good job showing delayed ESPN fights. The ESPN classics are good too. Infact they screened Mickey Ward v Emmanual Burton recently and that was absolutely fantastic.

Like StuJones said I cannot imagine their budget can cover British boxing, but would love to see them show Small hall boxing (Eugene Maloney's shows would be ideal....how much money would Eugene want though?).

Back to the original point and yes, I agree stujones, there's nothing more infuriating than edited rounds. However, Channel 5 are normally good at skipping the minutes rest and just showing all the boxing.

I think that Sky are by far and away the worst culprets when it comes to messing the boxing up. They skip rounds out willy-nilly, constantly go to the commercials and often give clear indications of what's about to occur in the delayed boxing after the main event.
