Tris Dixon Life Stories - Shannon Briggs

This one had no real revelations or insights into anything that most listeners wouldn’t already know but it was a pleasant listen whilst I did a training session today and as he is just chatting and not repeatedly screaming ‘let’s go champ’ Shannon comes across as a nice, sweet guy.
I would have liked the PED topic to have been brought up but other than that I’d say it’s worth a listen whilst doing something else.

I remember cracking up a few years ago when Briggs was interviewed, he was shouting about being old school because he had the ‘original iPhone - the iPhone 2’. Wtf

I enjoyed this one so far (only half way through) the stuff about his childhood was interesting.

Tris' new podcast has rocketed to the top of my list of boxing podcasts... great interviewing style and good subjects - if you haven't listened to the Jonny Greaves one or the Mark Hobson one - get on it.

Joint top is BBC FIve Live's with Costello and Bunce. I don't really like Bunce but he I have to admit he works well with Costello who keeps his rants and agendas in check.

Anybody got any recommendations for other pods?

I’m definitely enjoying these podcasts, very much no frills & no-nonsense boxing chat, exactly what I like to hear. Great stuff.

Not sure how but I've completely missed these. The fact that they have such good reviews on here has prompted me to download a couple and I'll add it to my gym listening.

I also like Costello & Bunce, I think Mike Costello's cool and calm nature compliments Buncey's excitable high pitched tone...and I'm not saying that to be rude before he thinks about sending Big Dave from Sheffield round my house.

Yeah actually Spencer Oliver and Jake Wood's podcast is actually very good. They have a great and diverse range of guests on and they work pretty well together.

Its called 'Pound for Pound'.

the tone isn't what really annoys me, grating though it is. its the hyperbole and shilling of below-par matchups or whatever. the buying-in to company narratives (regarding CEJ vs Degale recently (('nobody was saying degale was over the hill before this fight' uh, yes, we fvcking were Steve)), CEJ vs Groves, Bellew giving Usyk his 'toughest fight' etc etc etc), the revisionism etc etc etc.

Just listened to this, thoroughly enjoyed it, wish it went on for twice as long. Briggs' positive attitude is infectious, and I hope he has another few high level bouts if he so wishes.

Let's go champ!

What happened with Briggs and Atlas?
It’s touched on but he’s never gone into detail about it.
Anyone know?
