Josh Taylor vs Ricky Burns in May

Talk of it floating about, anyone heard anything?surely burns doesn't want to get smashed to bits at this point...heard it's for May the 18th
Dont understand whats hes doing. Everybody else in the tournament has gone through the exact same thing and they aren't throwing there toys out the pram....it's not like he's been singled out. Makes me think he really dosnt want to fight taylor in Scotland. If he does back out this could cost him a fortune in legal feeskbackup408 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 10:58 Well that has gone tits up Baranchyk is going to be in a long legal battle with Comosa - hope he got a good legal team!
It depends. Contracts go both ways. If the WBSS haven't lived up to their end of the contract- delays, purse, etc. Well, it will be interesting to find out.rio wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 12:36Dont understand whats hes doing. i blame eddeh. gawd hes just so awful aint he.jameswilson wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 13:31 Burns was declared bankrupt with debts of £400k according to reports.
Hope he’s making a decent wedge or this fight and in his fights since that legal battle.
Agreed - Josh has tweeted not mentioning an opponent but using the hashtag #AndTheNew so wouldn't be surprised at all to see an interim title included vs Burns. It's a shame as I thought him & Baranchyk would have been a good fight & a nice clash of styles.
no way sky, bt, itv dont pick this up esp if its for a world title.NoScoutingReports wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 15:29No UK broadcaster has been announced/agreed so it will be YouTube again I'd say.
I hope you're right, the WBSS deserves to be broadcast on TV.Avitar wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 15:42no way sky, bt, itv dont pick this up esp if its for a world title.NoScoutingReports wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 15:29No UK broadcaster has been announced/agreed so it will be YouTube again I'd say.
That was after Matchroom lawyers told Burns his contact was nill and void and could walk away from Warren and join him. That worked out.jameswilson wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 13:31 Burns was declared bankrupt with debts of £400k according to reports.

it isn't that pal, these eastern european fighters will fight anyone home or away - the management are just trying to be tough to deal with (throwing toys out of pram for not getting a hefty bonus)rio wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 12:36Dont understand whats hes doing. Burns was owed money after the courtcase, he just wasn't clever as the person on the other side who liquidates the company thats having action taken against it. So he's basically been told he won't be seeing any of the money that the court ruled he should be paid. There really should be laws in place to prevent this kind of thing.rio wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 16:44That was after Matchroom lawyers told Burns his contact was nill and void and could walk away from Warren and join him. Yeah Burns received 3 or 4 cheques for Mitchell fight and everyone bounced higher than the previous ones.jameswilson wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 18:28Burns was owed money after the courtcase, he just wasn't clever as the person on the other side who liquidates the company thats having action taken against it. Absolutely beggars belief that you try to point score and take the side of good ol Mr Allegedly in all of this. If you have a read up about some of the things being claimed in court it's easy to see that if you were a boxer who you'd be looking to deal with and who you wouldn't be looking to deal with.
BT already got a show that night, so i doubt they’re going to pick this up, channel 5 should be all over this.Avitar wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 15:42no way sky, bt, itv dont pick this up esp if its for a world title.NoScoutingReports wrote: ↑28 Mar 2019, 15:29No UK broadcaster has been announced/agreed so it will be YouTube again I'd say.

if its on youtube - good for us not so much for the boxers !keirw wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 11:25 The TV set up seems a bit odd, think they planned to sell the rights for the entire season in bulk and UK TV companies only wanted to show certain fights.
Maybe a steaming service might pick it up. Or they could go with YouTube again, but maybe get a sponsor or two.
Don't think people will mind watching it for free on YouTube but with a few adds squeezed in between fights.
