So with all the talk about Shannon the Cannon coming back, I went back and watched Briggs vs Vitali. Vitali won a unanimous 12 round dec, basically shutting out Briggs. What a shvt fight. Boring as Briggs barely put up a fight but took everything Vitali gave him. Usual Vitali fight. Hands low; walking his man down; throwing arm punches.

I couldn't help but think of Lennox Lewis fighting a better and certainly more game Briggs and dispatching him in 5 rounds, knocking down Shannon three times. Prime Lewis would have thrashed prime Vitali.

Hell old, out of shape Lewis ripped up his face, and beat him. So I think that says enough right there.

I thought Briggs' corner was really stupid for letting Shannon finish that fight. I would've stopped it after the 8th at the very least. Briggs was nothing more than a punching bag the entire 12 rounds, and basically lost the majority of his purse for the bout to hospital expenses as a result of the injuries he sustained. No need in letting him take that kinda punishment. If they had stopped it after 8 he would've still been badly beaten up, but I don't know if he would've been ICU level beaten up.
