I like Harrison when he is fighting reasonable opposition...of course i can't speak for Lirva 8)

I meant Lirva. He does seem to have his favourites. Harrison doesn't appear to be one of them though.

I don't particularly like Harrison I have to admit. Talks to much bollox. I don't want to see him beat Watts record either. I know nothing about Kebede but he might be able to spark Harrison?? I can hope. It would be a great night if he did.

Console yourself with the fact that he's never really going to beat Watt's record.

Watt = Genuine world champion

Harrison = WBO title holder

The difference is immense, and only someone from Harrison's camp would have the cheek to claim the record for their man.

It's years before some fighters get respect. At the time, Watt was viewed as something of a paper champ, having won a vacant title.
And like Harrison, he suffered from comparison to a former champ: Buchanan, who he'd come 2nd best to already.

And although he was WBC champ, the WBA champ was a hot shot from the Kronk called Hilmer Kenty. The American was the guy who got all the coverage, especialy in the States.
Plus Aaron Pryor had been avoided by all at 135, having to move to 140 to get his shot.

Even when Jim upset the USA big star Howard Davis, the yanks just viewed is as David being overrated ( which he was ).
Yes Sean O'Grady was beaten by Watt, and then went onto beat Kenty, but Jim's win over O'Grady was tainted by a blatant head but ( followed by a big right hand :TU: ).

But at least he took on a living legend, Alexis Arguello, and lost valiantly.
And looking back, he scored some great wins and deserves his place as a real champion.

Scot's good, but he's not up there with Jim Watt yet.

I'm with lirva33 on this one.

As you all know, I cannot stand Scotty Harrison and I detest him with a passion. I think he is an embarrasment to British boxing, but you Scots can keep him.

He is WBO champ, yet he claims to be a 2 time WORLD champion!? I'm sorry but the WBO title is not recognised as a legit belt. And to be a WORLD champ, he must fight the likes of Manny, Marquez or even Chi.

I just think he is an overhyped, overrated, predictable robot.

I'm rooting for Kebede too, Harrison's an arsehole.

That was a good post. I didn't know anything about that to be honest. Watt lost by 2 rounds on all of the judges scorecards in the Arguello fight, thats a great achievement. When you say blatant head butt, do you mean intensional on Watts part?

PS... Come on my son!!

I admire your disgust of Harrison. :TU:

It really looked it. Watt was on the verge of losing to O'Grady, cut and bleeding badly, then leaped in and cracked the Bubblegum Bomber with his head, opening up a terrible cut over O'Grady's eye. Sean turned to the ref to compain, and Jim cracked him with a big punch for good measure.
O'Grady was stopped on cuts a few minutes later, as I think it was ruled accidental.
O'Grady was a very good fighter, and outlasted Kenty in a 15 round war in his next fight.

I admit he's fought a few patsy's but he is nowwhere near Hattons level of crap...yet, and remember the Ricky has had a lot more fights than Scott.

In my opinion i think Harrisons standard of opponents, without being anything to write home about are a good level above Hattons.

I agree with you to a certain extent, but Scott has been very well managed and protected... all the name fighters he fought like Patterson and Robinson etc were shot fighters.... now the talk is already switching from Chi to Brodie... another good fighter who may well be shot or if not shot very definately past his best. It leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.

Agreed that a clash with Brodie would have been interesting a year or two ago but now it would prove nothing.

He needs to fight Chi for the WBC belt but to be honest it doesnt look too promising going by the manner of Maloney in the post fight interview. I do think Harrison actually wants the main players but its going to come down to the $$$ that Sports network are willing to pay which makes me pretty pessimistic. Chi wouldnt cost major money and if he wins that then the big fights will happen inevitabaly due to the higher prestige the WBC has to offer.

After the response of the crowd Maloney wont dare put him in with another pushover in Glasgow anytime soon.

To my knowledge he and his mates don't batter guys in pubs + he never regained a micky mouse title from an over the hill, formerly very good fighter in a matchup he should have been disqualified in for excessive, blatant fouling.

I honestly feel sorry for you fellas. You all must have choked on your bangers and mash when Harrison battered that little ethiopian in well under a minute. I love thinking about all of you throwing up yer bangers and mash every time Harrison wins. Thing is, AAA is going to achieve even more than Harrison so what are you all going to do then- take a nervous breakdown probably :lol:

Save your sympathy Don for the poor buggers who shelled out their hard earned cash to see to watch that tripe on Friday!. Most of them were Scottish too so I'd expect you to have some feelings for them!.....
Mind you I did choke a bit when dear Scott branded himself a legend alongside Lynch and Buchanan!.... christ! it must have been a good hour before I stopped laughing!!!... and as for AAA..... I think it should be AAAA = .....amazingly average alex arthur!..... :TU: :roll: :roll: :roll: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: 8) :roll: :wink: :TU:
