lol i saw cain velsaquz do one of these and it claimed he had as much power concentrated in his punch as a speeding truck slamming into something, lol he wouldve killed many opponents if that was true

But a 130 lb fighter punching just a little bit better than a heavyweight who may be the best pure puncher in the game?

Well boxing has always been loaded with a heavy dose of malarkey.

I tend to think the "sports science" tests that FS & ESPN sometimes do are rather over-hyped. They are designed to get good ratings and they generate as much controversy as possible toward that goal, so I generally take them with a grain of salt.

Yes I do. I’ve seen lots of punching bag challenges on various TV shows and plenty of celebrities have achieved better scores than professional boxers.

I don’t know if the machine requires special technique or whether it lacks accuracy, but they do often generate surprising results.

I guess what really matters is the consistency of punching power rather than a one-shot max.

I strongly suspect if there was an equivalent machine that measured the average punching power for each shot landed on a heavy bag using lots of powerful combinations thrown over a one-minute duration, this machine would produce more accurate and more meaningful average-based stats.

Those little punch measuring machines are very finnicky. You can get a great reading one time, and a poor reading another time just based on what part of the surface you hit that's doing the calculating. I wouldn't put much stock into it at all.
