Matchroom signs Zhilei Zhang on a co-promotional deal

So maybe now we'll get a chance to see this guy in action, hopefully against an opponent who can put up a fight. He's going nowhere in my opinion, based on the last couple of years.

I'm thinking Hunter. Decent test for Zhang and an ok (no more than that) keep busy fight for Hunter. Hunter is scheduled to fight on the May 25th card.
Zhang is supposed to fight on next week's card, potentially against Tom Little. We won't be able to gather much from that though.

I don't even have enough familiarity with Zhang to tell how he'd fair against Hunter, but Hunter is a
really good fighter and Zhang's best in-ring experience was winning a silver medal. Hardly an endorsement from me.

He fought Joshua in the Olympics but I didn't ever watch it. Zhang against Hunter would be interesting

zhilei was also supposed to be the original opponent for ustinov before hunter stepped in, wouldnt be surprised if we see zhang -hunter, hunter would beat him

For as much as I can tell, yeah...I'd go with Hunter.

I've been wanting to see him, but he's been kept under wraps as though he was top secret, and now he hasn't fought in almost 7 months which is not good for a new heavyweight who is already almost 36. Oh well much ado about nothing I suppose.

He's really not been kept under wraps, Zhang has been pretty easy to watch in action, some videos of him here

I'm confusing him with Junlong Zhang, 19-0 all by KO. Boxrec says he's "inactive", but Wiki says he defended Oceania heavyweight title on March 1st against an unknown oponent with an unknown result. Strange.

Almost four months later and he's still going nowhere - except in the wacky WBO rankings where he's rising rapidly!

Is he yet to fight under Matchroom? He signed like nearly a year ago?
