Apti Davtaev vs Pedro Otas

B/nation have just picked up this card from Russia coming this Thursday, a lot of young up and coming Russian prospects, few amateur stand outs as well I believe, pretty packed card as far as numbers are concerned, Davtaev vs Otas topping the bill, Heavyweight action, Davtaev the home fighter is 16-0-1 with 15 early, looking through his record he's been matched carefully to say the least
Otas definitely the man with the experience, 32-4-1 with 28KOs so looks a puncher at least, got stopped late by Makabu 8 years ago, he was stopped by the unbeaten Chinese KO artist Zhang a couple of years ago as well, he does have a late stoppage win over Hector Alfredo Avila who's fought over here and Otas also took the unbeaten record of Zumbano Love
Some of those Russian shows BN have shown have been pretty wild so heres hoping

Easter weekend begins with live boxing from Russia on Thursday 18th April at 7.30pm!
The bill is topped by Heavyweight crusher Apti Davtaev, plus hometown heroes Umar Salamov and Aslambek Idigov.
Davtaev (16-0, 15 KOs) meets Brazilian veteran Pedro Otas (32-4-1, 28 KOs) with a knockout seeming certain, given their KO records.

So why are we having a thread on this fight? Doesn't sound like this guy is a future star.

Umar Salamov become the first fighter who stopped very durable Polish jorneyman Norbert Dabrovski. TKO 9 after three knockdowns

Davtaev looks pretty basic against a 42years lightheavyweight journeyman. No way he should be considered as a prospect.

Edisultanov stoppage victory over extremaly durable Evchenko was very impressive performance. Uslam looked like a guy who has a future in fighting game

Davtaev won TKO5 but he is defenitely not a prospect. No surprize that they make his career in extremely soft way cuase any half-decent heavyweight (top-50) will beat him up to death

I quite like the look of Davtaev, could be another fun fighter in the division, still a bit raw but looks a decent boxer, good jab when he used it proper as opposed to holding it out for the right hand, moves well for a big guy and showed a bit of variety, his powers a bit deceiving, more thudding than explosive but I thought he was alright, I always like heavyweights who work the body, it looked as if he might get Otas out of there in the 1st but a lot of Davtaev's work was blocked
Otas was a game bastard, give him that he looked a bit dangerous like he might nail Davtaev with a haymaker but more and more Davtaev just drilled him with rights down the middle mainly, it was gonna take a big shot to get Otas out of there and the right hand he walked him onto in the 5th was a beut
Few more fights and i'd like to see Davtaev at European level
