Eddie Hearn, promoter of WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, said on social media that Joshua’s next opponent Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller has failed a random drug test. “We have been informed by VADA that there has been an adverse finding in Jarrell Miller’s sample collected on March 20th, 2019. We are working with all relevant parties and will update with more details soon. AJ’s preparation continues for June 1st at MSG,” he tweeted.

Reportedly Miller tested positive for the banned substance GW1516. The Joshua camp would have to find a new challenger for Joshua if Miller is suspended. The fight is slated for June 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York City so a new opponent would have about six weeks to prepare.

The guy who makes the biggest fuss about drug cheats, is the cheat. I think we should call it the Lance Armstrong Syndrome.

My first thought is one which wonders how AJ gets away with it, but I suspect most of his assisted work is done under the guise of warm weather training in Dubai.

So are they going to bring Whyte out to New York? Seems the only logical decision as I cannot think of any other top HW with availability. Gonna cost them a packet though

If Miller is out due to a failed drug test, then I doubt Whyte will be asked to step in, I think they'd look at an American boxer, maybe Michael Hunter, he's lined up for a fight at end of May . So is in training.

Usyk too big a name to be a replacement?

I was really looking forward to this. I think Miller posed a unique set of problems and was interested in seeing how it unfolded.

Is this another problem for AJ and his continuous rise? From Wlad onwards he was soaring...but his thunder was taken by Fury and now he's going to end up in a mismatch.

And we can say Wilder and/or Fury might lose and take the shine off a big fight but any of the three could fail a test too.

Yeah on reflection, you're right.

I've no idea who they could put in. Ortiz is available isn't he? Would be a real interesting match-up but does not fit the criteria you just explained. Hunter would take it and I have seen he has tweeted, plus he is an American.

Think the lack of US talent is going to cause them a real issue here

I just read that Miller also failed a test after a kickboxing bout in 2014. I did not realise that he had plied his trade in both sports at the same time and went 22-2 in professional kickboxing. That one flew over my head.

This explains how a guy that heavy can throw so many punches.

Just a personal thing, but for me Wilder vs Joshua has lost its appeal after the Fury fight. I really struggle to see anything beyond a one sided victory for AJ - Wilder is clueless.

I also think AJ's thunder was also taken with some pretty ordinary defensives post Klitchsko - it was always going to be hard follow that special night, but they've been pretty poor main events - the Povetkin fight was okay, but AJ looked pretty poor in parts of that night. That's why I am surprised he is still doing the biz in the PPV stakes.

I do have some hope about the "new generation" of heavyweights, led by Usyk. Hopefully the other Cruiser's will follow suit and we have the fresher (can't say younger) Brits in Joyce and Dubous - I'm sorry but while he has talent, cannot see Gorman ever really being a star. Looking the part is important in the money stakes at Heavyweight..... Fury being an example of this.

The Povetkin fight was good and went as I expected...AJ's size and power eventually caught up with him. Parker was a fight he had to go through.

He should beat Wilder but you never know. I see Miller as a legitimate threat... Oritz would be good.
