Ajagba was manhandled with ease by Ivan Dychko, fought in very few amateur bouts and competed in only 34 minutes and 41 seconds of action in the pro ranks (i.e. the combined total time of all ten fights he's participated in).
So his next opponent will inevitably be another journeyman road sweeper. It’ll be another mismatch against a severely overmatched fighter that has been specifically chosen to be decimated within a couple of rounds or so.
The young Nigerian obviously needs time to learn his craft, which means it’ll monumentally stupid to consider the possibility about him being capable of beating any half-decent name at this point of his fledgling career.

A good measuring stick like Kevin Johnson, who's recently gone the distance with Dubois, Hrgovic & Gorman. If Ajagba stops him it shows good progress. If he doesnt stop Johnson at least Efe gets some much-needed rounds in the bank, which he definitely needs!! Fighters who get only quick KOs never develop as fully as they should.

Just this really. When he comes face to face against the likes of the Olympians, he will lose.

I've edited that for you. I agree that Kingpin is an ideal opponent for the reasons explained by Best Coast. Efe is obviously behind the Olympians in terms of current experience but by the time we see him in fights with any of them, I've little doubt that will no longer be a factor.
After Johnson it might be interesting to see him work through his fellow Africans: Onoriode Ehwarieme, Richard Larty, Ruan Visser, Romarick Ngoula, Martin Bakole Ilunga, so as to conquer his continent before looking at the wider world.
The Caribbean Tank is too old, but Charles Martin would be good to watch.

I was going to say Martin aswell. Would like to see him against Trevor Bryan but he's somehow in the WBA picture atm.
Washington? Arreola?
Him vs Bakole could be a really good fight to watch.

I've a feeling Martin, Bryan and Bakole might not be able to make the date because they're washing their hair or something
I'm not casting aspersions about their courage, but realistically you have to look at where these guys are, where they are trying to get to, and ask yourself whether they are likely to want to risk getting smoked by a little known, potential monster, for a fairly unappealing purse?
Maybe if Ajagba / Bakole could be built up as being for Championship of all Africa it may have a chance ... or maybe that's just wishful thinking.
I suspect they have other lakes to fish in. Washington or Arreola might me more amenable, they have nothing to lose.

Someone, who will be a threat. Efe has always looked like a collected killer, but he has never fought someone decent. Only past-prime Mansour. Some decent fellas, who have not much to lose, can accept the challenge. Bakole and Martin sound good indeed. Helenius will be a good test as well. Or maybe even Chisora.

Someone who will give him some educated movement and won't always stand there to be hit on.
A Gregorio Peralta type.

Here's my take. Efe is a great prospect. I loved the punch output and power. His jab is still a bit slow for me. He went to the body well as he mixed up his punches. He didn't back off when Wallisch attacked, he stood in there.
He needs more work for certain. Has to work on making better angles; head movement; getting his jab crisper; and getting better at counterpunching, which if he can learn, would make him a whole lot more effective.
Next Opponent? I agree with many other posters here. Someone who will give him rounds, but also make him work harder. Maybe Kevin Johnson would be the guy.
All in all, a decent performance, but a performance that I thought showed still a lot of work for Efe in the fights ahead. That makes this matchup a good step. Wallisch came to fight for a round and a half.

EDIT: An interesting takeaway was the tale of the tape. Efe's Height was listed at 6'6" but his reach was shown as 84".

Yes. He needs someone durable. At just 9 fights, he needs this now.
Rudenko hasn’t been stopped. Slowpin has been stopped only by AJ.

I hate to see Johnson loaning his body out every other month for nothing more than an extended beating.
That's not what the sport should be about.
His opponents aren't really learning anything, since Johnson isn't fighting to win.
It's only better than 10 rounds on the heavy bag because you're getting a paycheck.

I understand your point, but we're talking about what's good for Ajagba. Johnson is a good step for him. Doesn't pose a threat but provides a lot of work.

The only thing I could see Ajagba learning is how to pace himself.
Does he get over anxious and try to take Johnson out early to impress?
And if unsuccessful, does he run low on gas by the middle rounds and for the first time, he needs to struggle to find a second wind?

I always said calling ajagba 6'5," was a crime. Now they list him 6'6" .. but i am sure 100% he is no less than 6'7".
He had at least 3 inches on micheal wallisch who is 6'5". They will eventually measure his height in big fights comes up

I wouldn't worry about Kevin. He's a wily old bird who knows how to take care of himself. It's only Joshua that's really hurt him. I'm sure if you asked Daniel Dubois, he'd say that Johnson was cagey and frustrating but a really useful learning experience.
No, far more worrying from a medical standpoint is this mysterious terrifying condition which is causing Efe's arms to get shorter in length each time he has fought recently.

Ah Goyo Peralta what a performance he put on against young George. You'd have your work cut out to find someone lowly ranked who would be capable of that, in fact even Peralta himself didn't give any indication of being able to make Foreman look so ineffectual. I can't help thinking that might have been the fight which inspired Ali to dub him "The Mummy".
