Belfast’s Tyrone McKenna will host Darragh Foley at Ulster Hall on Friday, June 21, headlining an MTK Global show that will stream live on ESPN+ in the United States.
McKenna (18-1-1, 6 KO) is a southpaw junior welterweight whose only loss was against Jack Catterall in June 2018, and he was competitive in that fight, losing on scores of 94-93, 94-93, and 95-91 despite being dropped twice. The draw on his sheet was a technical draw in 2016 due to a first round clash of heads causing a cut that stopped a fight in Spain.
McKenna, 29, has won his last two.
Foley (17-3-1, 9 KO) is another Irishman based in Australia. He started his career 8-2 and has gone 9-1-1 since then, winning his last two after a decision loss to Akeem Ennis-Brown in December. His draw was also a technical draw, against Chris Jenkins last August in Glasgow. Jenkins recently won the British welterweight title.
Will probably be on Youtube on IFL.

Ward vs. Conroy Added To ESPN+ Card on June 21
Steven Ward and Liam Conroy will collide for the WBO European light-heavyweight title on the #MTKFightNight at Belfast’s Ulster Hall on June 21 – live on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank.
The former sparring partners clash on a stacked bill at the iconic venue, where Tyrone McKenna and Darragh Foley headline with the WBC International super-lightweight belt on the line.
Ward (11-0, 4 KOs), who will enjoy home advantage, said: “Winning the European title would mean the world to me. It’s a step up I’m ready for and victory will open up so many more doors.
“We’ve done a lot of sparring ahead of his fight with Buatsi. It was good sparring and we got on well. There’s no need to change any preparations based on the sparring we had.
“I’m confident in my boxing and once you get in there, Liam’s in the way of where I want to go. Our paths have crossed and getting past him will put me another rung up the ladder.”
Barrow-in-Furness’ Conroy (16-4-1, 8 KOs) added: “I’m going to the lion’s den again but I’m looking forward to it. I hope it’s a good atmosphere because I thrive off hostile environments. I’ve heard great things about that venue.
“He’s been my sparring partner and we’ve helped each other a lot in the past so there’s not too much homework to do. Myself and Johnney Roye really focus on my strengths and weaknesses anyway.
“I still want to build myself back up to the British title mandatory position. It’s still my dream and I won’t stop until I get it.”

Not a bad matchup, this.

He did OK, Catterall started quite well and looked like he would get rid of Mckenna in pretty quick order.
But then Catterall seemed to take his foot of the gas and allowed Mckenna to claw some rounds back.

the cards were too close in that fight, even though mckenna did outwork cat to win some later rounds no way shouldve mckenna been the winner if those kds are taken away
i also thought mckenna lost his last fight, though it was close enough not to be a crap decision. dont rate him really but i think foley is about the same level so the matchups actually pretty solid
ward vs conroy is good too. conroy got smoked by buat but is very solid at brit level or below. and lets find out what wards got

This will likely be on Youtube. I do wonder what happened to MTK's deal with Boznation.

He got dropped twice too?
So had there been no KD's, McKenna would have won a split decision?

Paddy Gallagher stopped Liam Wells in what was the first step up for the latter man.
The pair met at the Ulster Hall in Belfast, exclusively live on iFL TV in the UK and ESPN+ Stateside, as part of an MTK Fight Night promoted by MTK Global.
For Wells, after making a rapid rise in the paid code to 5-0, this was meant to be a coming out party, but Gallagher had other ideas.
‘The Pat Man’ — who is now 16-5 with 10 quick — made a tentative start to the contest as he worked out his opponent.
It was pretty nip and tuck until the third when former kickboxer Wells took a massive right hand which changed the flow of the fight.
A barrage of punches followed and Wells took a lot of punishment before the referee jumped in to stop the fight.
Meanwhile, Lewis Crocker kept up his flawless record against a former French champion.
The Belfast welterweight improved his ledger to 9-0 with six quick after dropping his man in the opener.
‘The Croc’ was in against Karim Aliliche and, after putting him down in the first, outclassed him over six to come away with a 60 points to 53 verdict.
And Owen O’Neill moved to 2-0 with a 39-37 points win over familiar visitor Geiboord Omier, while allegedly-promoted talent Caoimhin Agyarko got his fourth win as a pro, putting in arguably his best performance to date against Paul Allison and coming out on top by a margin of 60 points to 55.
But there was a big shock in the second fight of the evening as Taylor McGoldrick suffered his first defeat in the paid code.
The 25-year-old southpaw, from Belfast, was stopped by Gennadi Stserbin in the opening round of their contest and, as a result, slips to 3-1 with one quick, while Estonian visitor Stserbin improves to 2-4 with both wins coming inside the distance.

Enjoyable MTK show tonight..the main event was a great battle! Conroy had Ward hurt badly & poured it on in the 2nd but couldn't close the show, great heart from Ward who bounced back after taking a solid knockdown via Conroy's left hook.
Conroy punched himself out to an extent looking for the finish and Ward picked up rounds after being dropped before the bout was cut short two rounds early due to the home fighter's serious cut over the left eye (clash of heads). Close UD for Ward! Was the biggest test for Ward so far in his career and he showed a good chin & some serious grit to weather the storm and come back firing.

McKenna won via UD, was a competitive enough fight but McKenna was always in control.

Tyrone McKenna picked up a title with a victory over Darragh Foley.
The Belfast super-lightweight took on the former WBA Oceania champion for the vacant WBC International title at Ulster Hall in his home city.
The fight formed part of the supporting cast to the vacant WBO European light-heavyweight title clash between Steven Ward and Liam Conroy, exclusively live on iFL TV in the UK and ESPN+ Stateside.
McKenna started the fight aggressively, looking to gain an early advantage over his opponent, who suffered a points defeat at the hands of Akeem Ennis-Brown for the vacant IBF European title back in December 2018 before bouncing back with a pair of wins, one by knockout, in his native Australia.
But Foley, who slipped to 17-4-1 with nine quick in defeat, came back into it in the middle rounds, with his corner urging him to up the ante as they felt McKenna was struggling.
That, however, wasn’t the case as the three scoring judges at ringside all scored the contest in favour of ’The Mighty Celt’, handing in tallies of 98-91, 97-93 and 98-91 at the end of 10 scheduled rounds.
The referee was Victor Loughlin and he watched both men give it their all towards the end. McKenna got his tactics right, catching Foley on the way in and ultimately catching the eye of the three arbiters in order to take home the decision.
He is now 19-1-1 with six quick but was equally as rapid in dismissing speculation that he could face Ohara Davies next.
Davies takes on former world champion Miguel Vazquez over 10 rounds at Bethnal Green’s famous York Hall venue next Friday but McKenna said after his win that the fight had been offered to the former WBC Silver super-lightweight king numerous times and has been declined on each occasion.

Thought Conroy was a bit unfortunate with the way the fight ended.
Ward was ahead on the cards but Conroy was on the front foot landing some big punches at the point the fight was stopped.
Really good fight though, would like to see a rematch.
