Multiple sources have informed BS.com that Charlo’s WBC interim middleweight title defense against Brandon Adams has been scheduled for June 29 in Houston. Showtime will televise the Charlo-Adams match as the main event of a doubleheader from NRG Arena.
Showtime’s telecast also is expected to include WBA interim light heavyweight champ Marcus Browne, who’ll defend his secondary 175-pound crown against former WBC champ Jean Pascal.
The card headlined by Charlo-Adams initially was planned for June 8 or June 15. Scheduling it for June 29 will eliminate head-to-head competition for viewership from Gennady Golovkin’s fight against Steve Rolls on June 8 at Madison Square Garden in New York (DAZN) and the Tyson Fury-Tom Schwarz heavyweight bout June 15 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas (ESPN+).
Browne, meanwhile, will make the first defense of a title he won by beating Badou Jack definitively January 19 in Las Vegas. The southpaw from Staten Island, New York, easily out-boxed Sweden’s Jack (22-2-3, 13 KOs) in their 12-round fight on the Manny Pacquiao-Adrien Broner undercard at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The 36-year-old Pascal (33-6-1, 20 KOs, 1 NC), of Laval, Quebec, Canada, lost a one-sided, 12-round decision to Dmitry Bivol in his last fight, November 24 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Russia’s Bivol (16-0, 11 KOs) is the WBA’s true light heavyweight champion.

Another good name to go in Browne’s win column IMO. Pascal only lost a wide decision to Bivol last November. Thought he would pack it in by now. I thought he was finished after the Kovalev bouts as he took a beating. He can still fight soft touches and he DID beat Elbiali too.
Can Browne stop Pascal?

I do not see this going well for Jean, at all.

No. Not at all.
The accumulation of punishment he has taken in recent years makes Pascal a potential tragedy in the making.
Browne can dish it out.

Pascal just keeps hanging around the fringes of the division. It's like he's paradoxically managed to extend his career by only fighting top guys so they can always claim he's only lost to the best.

Yep, Browne was too much for Badou Jack, let alone a faded warrior as Pascal

Date, opponent and site changes have led to the finalization of a FOX doubleheader August 3 in Brooklyn.
Multiple sources have confirmed to BS.com that the network will air a doubleheader that night that’ll match heavyweights Adam Kownacki and Chris Arreola in the main event and light heavyweights Marcus Browne and Jean Pascal in the co-feature. FOX Sports’ Mike Coppinger first reported the news Wednesday.
Kownacki initially thought he would fight Finland’s Robert Helenius (28-2, 17 KOs), but Premier Boxing Champions’ Al Haymon eventually settled on Arreola as Kownacki’s opponent. Arreola is 38 and mostly has lost against top opponents, but his style should mesh well with Kownacki’s approach to make for an entertaining fight at Barclays Center.

Ditto. It worries me to see Pascal in a ring anymore. That dude has taken a scary amount of punishment in recent years. I wish at the very least they'd match him with guys that ain't expected to do a number on him. The Light Heavyweight division needs to find a new name punching bag.

A step down for Browne after his Jack win.
A very good win that was for him. Don’t know if he’s still the WBC Silver champion but he’s the WBA Interim Champion.
I truly believe, this fight is simply to get another ‘name’ on his record. That’s what Pascal offers.
Exact same reason Bivol fought him. His handlers admitted he was going to fight someone with a bit of ‘name value’ and that was Pascal.

Pascal can’t beat the top level anymore. He can do alright against guys like Ahmed Elbiali who have no defense and don’t move their head. Against legit top shelf guys who can dish it out and actually box and move, forget it. Browne will piece him up.

At age 36 Pascal has been fading for a while and Browne seems on the upswing. I got Browne by lopsided decision.

Browne To Pascal: You're In My Way; I'm Knocking Your Ass Out!
Marcus Browne laughed when Jean Pascal promised “a short night” on August 3.
Browne is confident he’ll be the one to win by knockout when he defends his WBA interim light heavyweight title versus Pascal that night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Staten Island’s Browne (23-0, 16 KOs) will make the first defense of a championship he won against Badou Jack when he faces the former WBC 175-pound champion in the opener of a “PBC On FOX” tripleheader.
“He’s a great guy, always comes to fight,” Browne said. “I know he’s gonna come in the best shape as possible, chiseled, ready to fight. But come August 3rd, he’s in my way right now. Jean Pascal, you’re in my way, bruh! So, I’m gonna knock your ass out! I promise you! So, you wanna talk about, ‘Don’t blink. Don’t do this. Don’t do that.’ Let’s put some money up. What’s up? Let’s do it.”
“I know Marcus Browne is a southpaw, is a tremendous fighter,” Pascal said. “I’m just gonna train very well because he knows me very well, I know him very well. But I’m a former world champion – been there, done that. … I’ve fought the best. I fought Kovalev. I fought Hopkins. I fought everyone. I’m up for the challenge. It’s gonna be a challenge, but this little kid is a rookie. I’m the veteran and I’m gonna show him who’s the boss.”
“I remember one time I sparred Jean Pascal and he said I was green,” Browne said. “Well, guess what? The fruit is ripe now. So, let me tell you, come August 3rd, he already know what time it is, so we don’t have to talk too much. I just want y’all to know that I’m gonna be in the best shape possible. The light heavyweight division don’t have nobody like me. He done fought all those champions, but those guys are not me. Plain and simple. Come August 3rd, I’m gonna show you.”
In the main event August 3, Brooklyn’s Adam Kownacki (19-0, 15 KOs) and Chris Arreola (38-5-1, 33 KOs, 2 NC), of Riverside, California, are set to square off in a 12-round heavyweight bout. The other televised fight will feature former WBC welterweight champ Andre Berto (32-5, 24 KOs), of Winter Haven, Florida, in a 10-rounder against Miguel Cruz (18-1, 12 KOs), of Lake Mary, Florida.

This g=fight has just been made so Browne can have a 'good name' on his record. Like Jack wasn't big enough.
