A little over a year after defecting from the Cuban National Team in Tijuana, 2016 Olympic medalist Joahnys Argilagos fought his pro debut under the radar last Friday night at a south Texas club show against durable 20-fight veteran Josue Morales. Joahnys won a 6-round decision over Morales, who now has never been stopped in 21 pro bouts.

No videos available yet but Argilagos fights again on May 24 in Miami and hopefully there will be video highlights available from that bout.

Argilagos was only 19 when he won a bronze medal in the Rio Games. He also was gold medalist at 49 kg in both the 2015 World Championships and 2017 World Championships. He defected in March 2018 at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Tijuana, Mexico.

Thanks amigo!! The fact that he has only amateur video highlights shows how far UNDER the radar his pro debut was!! Hopefully that will change when he fights in Miami on May 24...

Argilagos is as skilfill as they come but he´s also a featherfisted boxer who struggled in the WSB where he lost his last four bouts. He has also moved up from light flyweight to super flyweight where he might get in trouble against stronger opponents.
