Callum Smith is set to announce his opponent for the Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz Jr. show imminently, World Boxing News understands.

After what’s been a long search, the Liverpool man is ready to settle on a clash with French former world champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam.

N’Dam recently defeated Smith’s compatriot Martin Murray at middleweight. The 35 year-old is primed to head back up to super-middleweight for a world title shot.

That's a pretty poor fight for the Ring Magazine champion - I was more expecting this for the likes of Ryder / Fielding sort of level.

Rubbish fight, but I suppose they won't be taking to many risks if they seriously want the Canelo fight later in the year.

Just hope Smith's reign doesn't end up like Brook's.

Let's not forget, fights in 3 weeks.. Not a lot of time for many to prepare.

That doesn't necessarily mean they will only train for 3 weeks, they could have been training for a month or two already whilst their teams negotiated terms.

Of course. Depends who it is. Not everyone is in training all the time or most times. Havae to make weight. Shouldn't be an issue for N'Dam as he's usually a MW, so won't need to cut much weight.

Weight won't be an issue, but sparring might have been.

He would have had to have lightheavies in to help him prepare for Smith.

No money left for top opponents. Fairly obvious given AJ's requirements and those of the replacement.

Yeh. N’dam likes falling on the floor. How many times did Lem drop him.

I dunno, but it was a lot. 6 w/o checking ?
It started an argument with a boxing nerd pal of mine - about what constitutes a "good chin"

I say N'dam has an incredible chin - if you can get caught clean by Lem 6 times in one fight and get up and make the final bell IMO you have a great chin.

He says, "N'dam has a rubbish chin to go down 6 times"

If I remember correctly he would have won if not for the knockdowns, a big if obviously. He was caught lovely about 6 more time's also and didn't go down. Won a few quid on his Murray fight :bag:

Yeah Smith would beat him up and I'd actually enjoy watching it! Lemieux is a total scrotum!
