Joyce vs Szpilka rumours, what do you think about this potential match-up?

It is rumoured to happen in July. I am not sold on Joyce, it would be a good test. Szpilka is only 30 but when he gets hit he reacts like a 45 years old veteran, so i think that Joyce will knock him out late if this fight will happen. if not he can well lose on points.

LOL! Wow! Only 30!? Crap fight for Joyce. Dangerous in that Szpilka can only make him look bad or get KTFO early. Neither helps him in any way.

to be fair for Szpilka, he was never avoiding challenges, he probably took the Jennings fight too early, and didn't cancelled the bout when he was sent back from USA to Poland days before the fight and came to USA like 48h or even less before the fight, he got punished in that fight, later he got brutally knocked out by Wilder and Kownacki and recently Wach almost stopped him and that's what he got, he can't stand a punch anymore, aged 30 and after only 25 fights.

I regret that he fought at HW, i wonder where he could get if he continued to fight at CW.

Joyce doesn't impress me but he is a hard hitter, which is the worst kind of a opponent for Szpilka.

It's a moot point which of Ustinov or Szpilka is the more washed up, pointless waste of the precious time Joyce has left before he joins them on the scrap-heap.

Szpilka is still credible, but even if he is able to look decent against Joyce for some time, he will be caught eventually. His chin is pretty shaky.

I think Artur is one of those guys that just burnt out young due to bad matchmaking and career guidance.

Personally I think Szpilka has better wins and better performances all round. Much better than Ustinov and the kind of fight he should've taken instead of Ustinov which will now look even more pointless. I'd rank him 25-50, whereas Ustinov is probably 50-100 right now.

Joyce beats them both easily but beating Szpilka more helps his claim to a title shot and organisation rankings.

At this point, Ustinov and Spzilka are equally done. At least Ustinov is a big body to pound on. Neither helps Joyce make any claim to a title.

You are right. After grueling Mollo fight he was matched against rising unbeaten Jennings. He was able to regain his career, he was well prepared to Wilder, but got caught and KTFOed in a brutal way, after what he was matched against other rising unbeaten prospect - Kownacki. Anyway he was lokking good against Wach, despite having blown ending. Overall the fight didn't look that close to me.

He would've been better served at CW as someone posted on this thread. Awkward guy to fight though.

They are unworthy competition no doubt but you need a record to get a shot and I'd argue that, as Joyce has no decent wins on his record and needs some at least equivalent or better than that of his ranked competitors, beating Szpilka is as good as some of them. Kownacki is lined up for a shot and has beat Szpilka and Martin, Miller was lined up and has beat Duhaupas and Wach (who Szpilka also beat). There's a big jump between the top tier and the next level of contenders at heavyweight and these sorts of wins unfortunately hold some weight. It will prove nothing in terms of ability, but it adds to his record. Ustinov was never anything.

Szplika means as much as Stiverne did.

Yeah. Do it.
Two decent fights for Joyce to take within a two month period.

yeah i always marveled how people could rank Ustinov, i have never had him in my top 30. He was always terrible.

nah. Stiverne is a fat bum, not even a top 100 fighter. he fights once per 2 years, in 4 years everything he's done is being down vs Derrick Rossy and get smashed by Wilder. Stiverne is terrible, Kiladze was the best opponent Joyce faced to date.

Agreed. He was never a threat to top 25. He was big that's all.

+ the main difference is that Szpilka comes for win, Stiverne comes for money only.

szpilka is easily better then ustinov, hes still only like 30, won his last fight vs a fringe contender (albeit in a struggle) and managed to win like half the rounds vs wilder on a fair card

While Szpilka was more active, he beats Wach in a close fight, who then got sparked by Ilunga. He beats 43 year old Guinn, who beat no one but has some impressive losses. Got sparked twice before that. He doesn't help Joyce line up a title shot. Neither does Ustinov. This is just a stay busy fight and that's all.

absolutely. A better stay busy fight for Joyce than Ustinov, but let's not talk about Szpilka getting Joyce any kind of title shot.

Heavily disagree. Compare the two of them against Wilder for a simple comparison. Szpilka has no chin and B/C level boxing but Stiverne was done years ago.

And for title shots you need a huge fight (which nobody will take) or an accumulation of mediocre ones. This is a mediocre one, slightly better than the last, to add to the record.

i agree, of course, what i mean is that Szpilka is bad, but Stiverne is terrible, he's probably on Dominick Guinn level now.

and Joyce vs Bakole is a fight i'd like to see.
