Barrett v Woodstock

Really good trade fight added to the Warrington v Galahad card, which is shaping up to be one of Franks better shows this year. It’s a nice clash of styles, the obvious pattern would be Woodstock pressing forward and pressuring Barrett whilst Barrett changes angles and looks for gaps as Woodstock is coming in. Both came unstuck against slightly similarly styled opponents last year in what should have been good learning fights for them.
Commonwealth Super-Feather title on the line as well which will mean a lot to both guys. Has the makings of an interesting fight

Barrett for me. Think he will just be a bit to much for leon. I also fancy barrett to beat Bowen if they fight after it. Good fight though. Think weight may play a part though.

Belter fight. All the British SFs seem to have an interesting style now, Archie Sharp always good to watch as well, even when he’s not in a tear up.

I think Barrett might be a shade overrated on what's he's done so far. Fancy Woodstock here.

Any news on Ronnie? Be good to see him back in the mix.

Hes only just started running. Think he has another MRI next month. Longest I have ever seen him not train but hoping the rest helps. Have a feeling that his next fight will be barrett and Bowen will vacate. Looking likely to be end of the year hell be back. If he didn't have bad luck he would have none

Most be hard to stay motivated, especially when he's hardly had the luck of the draw in his career. Hope he gets the fights he deserves when he comes back.

Bowen to vacate?
Bowen has a very tough defence in July

Sorry mate I totally forgot about that fight, yeah it is a really hard fight, styles make fights, it depends if cacace is putting the work in and what anto shows up, kinda caught between them as i dont think anto will live with the pressure Sam puts on his opponents, but I also dont believe Sam will take the shots from anto Jordan was landing in his last fight. Very good fight and I am glad that these fights are eventually being made. Who's anto training with also for doing the weight?

Anto is training away and in good nick now. Already sparring with Joe Fitzpatrick yesterday. His last fight came in 129lb so making the weight easily. His trainer is a local trainer but he's head screwed on.
Anto is No13 with wba in world ranking.

Zelfa will stop Leon within 5 rounds different levels in my opinion.. Bowen will stop Cacacae in a decent fight and can see Zelfa v Bowen end of the year which will be a cracking fight

Love this fight, I think their both evenly matched, both looked great coming up through the ranks but both learned valuable lessons when making that step up although Woodstock has a good win over Poxton, Barrett showed a lot of heart against Clark to get up from a heavy knockdown and finish the fight trying to win as oppose to just survive, he deserved his L but it was a massive learning curve
Woodstock was in a near identical situation getting up from an early KD before losing to Sharp who looks a very good prospect, he too never stopped trying to find a way to somehow turn it around
Well matched fight, both guys fighting for their first major title which should give them an extra few %, both fairly skilled, both very tough and hit hard enough, its a toss up really but I'm edging towards Barrett in a close one

That was a good little fight that, where is Sharp anyway? He should be in the mix for the British title surely?
Haven't heard his name mentioned since the Woodstock fight.

Sharp's up against Jordan McCrory on the DD v Gorman bill. Decent measuring stick after Bowen’s fight with McCrory which was more competitive than I think most thought it would be. Think Bowen v Sharp is in the pipeline for the back end of the year

Bowen might not be champ.
He faces Anto Cacace in Belfast. August 3rd.
Fair play to bowen and greaves for coming to Cacace back yard.

Excellent pairing. This fight was mooted last year and then they both lost along the way, but for me, it hasn't lost any of it's appeal. Should be a blistering affair and I'm struggling to pick a winner. The class of Barrett to come through or can Woodstock out hustle Zelfa.

Good post above. I understand what you are saying about anto but the struggle with weight and the amount of punches bowen does do body will take an effect. If bowen is open like he was against jordan then anto can definitely put him away but Jordan is a tough man and I believe anto doesn't take a body shot well. Hes also very cagey at times and if he doesn't let his hands go Bowen might overwhelm him. Fair play to both camps

Very good analysis. Anto is flying in training.
Very big but makes weight easy enough. Weighed 129lb in last fight.
bowen and greaves are going to feel anto is tight at the weight because hes so big (and I don't care what anyone says to the contrary, they are right imo) and that they are going to stop him late. HOWEVER.....this is what they faill to calculate;
anto will keep it long and land straight shots down the pipe and occasionaly touch the body whilst moving away at angles to negate the one dimensional plodding tactics of bowen. Theres nothing wrong with pressure but it has to be educated with a tight defence, and generally needs quick feet or hands to be effective. Bowen has none of that. I feel Bowen has gotten this far because hes been the bigger guy and managed to walk through the powder puff punchers that hes faced (maxi hughes, mccory), he wont be effective doing that with anto. Ontop of all of this Bowen is not a big puncher, hes a good puncher....cabral was enjoying himself in there before he got clipped to the body with a wild shot, and u have to ask urself when have u seen bowen actually ice someone....there are accumulation shots, and I just don't see him accumulating anything with anto. Plus its in Belfast, its an unbeknown to bowen where he wont have the support hes used to. Greaves sees special when he looks at Bowen, that's his opinion, I think hes going to have a reality check in Belfast. Time will tell

119-110 Barrett for me, career best performance he boxed beautifully at times, moving firing out quality punches, super sharp, Woodstock's no slouch but Barrett's speed was another level, the lead right hand over the top was superb as was the lead left hooks, cracking uppercuts rocking Woodstock's head back several times, just quality punch picking and variation, Woodstock never stopped coming forward and took his licks all night, TBF to him he never really looked like he was hurt at all or was ever in danger of being stopped but he was never in the fight, Barrett was class, he doesn't throw many combinations just single shots and the occasional 1/2, i'd like to see more punches in bunches as they say but nah all in all a very good showing

Woodstock is made for him to be fair. Really nice guy Lyon but he isnt at that level. He was in there to make zelfa look good. He needs to move up a weight. Zelfa got clipped a few times but barring that I think I had it like 11.1 kn rounds

He was switched on and fought near perfect fight - exact opposite from Clark fight which he looks like he’s learned a lot from.
