by Foggy
I've only known Johnson since his first fight with Clinton Woods guys so i'm gunna need some help, he's had 2 draws and 9 losses, i hear alot of decisions have gone against Johnson when he should have been the winner

, could anyone just point me in the right direction to which of these 11 bouts Glenn was screwed in:-
Clinton Woods - Draw
Daniel Judah - Draw
Julio Cesar Gonzalez - Loss
Derrick Harmon - Loss
Omar Sheika - Loss
Silvio Branco - Loss
Syd Vanderpool - Loss
Sven Ottke - Loss
Joseph Kiwanuka - Loss
Merqui Sosa - Loss
Bernard Hopkins - Loss - Ok Glenn was ko'd in this one but how was he doing in the fight until that stage of the ko
The reason i ask is cos that list has some world class fighters in it and it just bothered me how Glenn had done in these fights, cheers fella's, Foggy-N

Jose Luis Gonzales was certain a dodgy decision. A fair few of Johnson's loses were scored correctly but taking into account the time Johnson had to prepare for the fight still show what a good fighter his is.

Wrong there, it was a good decision IMO.
I actually think Ottke takes alot of flak for his apparent gifts of decision, for me he won the Reid fight (if you called it as the ref did). Had the ref not docked Reid the point and scored the KD then, of course, the grim reaper won - but not in my book with the rounds scored as the ref deemed them, Ottke sneaked it.
The Mads Larsen fight was a clear robbery, but I am struggling to think of many others of the top of my head.
Byron Mitchell moaned about the decision, but the fight wasn't even close - Brewer's were both close ones, as was Johnson but I think these were debatable as opposed to robberies.

Glen Johnson vs Daniel Judah- Light Heavyweight Supporting Bout
This was the classic crafty veteran versus untested youth and lived up to that label. Glen Johnson came out in the first three rounds being the aggressor behind a stiff jab. He was able to pick through the lax defenses of Judah. Judah used a flicking jab to try to figure out Johnson and did get the better of a good exchange in round three. In round four Judah landed a nice hook and danced around the ring trying to counter the aggressive Glen Johnson. In the middle rounds, Johnson relied heavily on that ramrod jab and some stiff right hands to frustrate Judah. The two exchanged a few cheap shots in parts of the fight that proved Judah's frustrated puzzlement. Judah attempted to make a mess of the fight, which may have worked if he was the type to employ that style. In round eight Judah got it sloppy and caught Johnson off guard, but Johnson came back with big right hands and combos in the last two rounds. When it came down to the judges, one judge had it correctly at 97-93 for Johnson while one judge had it a draw at 95 each. The last judge, to protect the innocent we will call him Robert Paolino, had the fight 97-93 for Daniel Judah. If it wasn't for the complete garbage put on Paolino's scorecard there may have been a fair decision. Eastside scored the bout 98-92 for Glen Johnson. Johnson is relegated to 38-9-1, while Judah remains unfairly unbeaten at 17-0-2. In a show of class, Judah lifted Johnson into the air to an ovation from the crowd. I'm appalled that Mr. Paolino can have such a crooked score card when even Judah knew he lost the fight.

very realistic, stu. i am no fan of sven. but i would only say that the Larsen-fight was a robbery. some were close, and most judges give the close rounds to the champ. that´'s no Ottke-phenomenon.

th woods draw was a robbery and the ottke fight I have seen it I wasnt saying that just be caustic like some people on here.
I thought Johnson won by 2 rounds.
Secondly if you dont think there was semothing dodgy about when reid fought ottke then you need your head seeing to.
Larssen was also a robbery so thats three in my book anyway guess we should get back to Johnson.

Sheika Squeaks By Johnson--
By Steve Gregg
(June 2, 2000) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Blue Horizon)--
The WBC's 5th ranked super middleweight contender, the hard hitting transplanted Palestinian Omar Sheika (20-1, 13 KO's) failed to impress, but did managed to pound out a 10 round majority decision over late replacement Jamaica's "Gentleman" Glen Johnson (36-7, 25 KO's).
Now under the tutelage of famed trainer Emanuel Stewart, the usually exciting but wild Sheika (169) fought at a more controlled pace, selectively distributing his bombs with prudence over the long haul. And once again the late sub Johnson (168) a cagey and seasoned pro, ran out of petrol during the last round, having the heart but not the juice to get things done.
The bout started with both men boxing cautiously, probing for openings with their left jabs. Putting more zing on the sting, Johnson, 31, stung Sheika, 23, with 3 snapping lefts and won the quiet first round with his busier jab.
Utilizing his jab more in the second, Johnson, 5'11", tasted a hard right by Sheika, 6'0", but kept accurately sticking with his left. A solid left jab landed flush and snapped back the head of the aggressive Sheika. Going downstairs, Johnson fired in a left hook. Slipping Sheika's right, Johnson then drilled him again with a solid left hook to the body, as he was in his groove, boxing smart and keeping Sheika in check and at a safe distance with the jab.
Clubbing in a right in the 3rd, Sheika soon feel victim to Johnson's sharp left jab, and his face redden under the impact of several jabs. Landing a left hook, Johnson continued to slip Sheika's lethal right and make him pay.
--Turning Point--
Finally getting inside Johnson's jab in the fourth round, Sheika began to hammer away with right uppercuts on the inside. As both men opened up and exchanged hard shots, it was Johnson's left hook that registered, banging Sheika to the body and head. Scoring with a big right hand to the jaw, Johnson shook Sheika. As Johnson stepped in to follow up, Sheika suddenly flashed his powerful right to the chin, and down went Johnson.
More surprised then hurt, Johnson got up and began firing the right-hand in desperation. Landing with the left hook on the inside, Johnson then backed up Sheika with a right to the head. They exchanged jabs, and with seconds to go, Sheika flurried, scoring with a numbing left hook to the liver. It was the type of shot that stays with a fighter for the rest of the night. At the bell, Sheika raised his arms in premature victory, and yelled at the poker faced Johnson, who ignored him and painfully walked back to his corner.
Suffering from the effects of the paralyzing blow over the next two and a half rounds, Johnson grew tentative, and forgot to jab. Mauling him into the ropes, Sheika pinned him there and ripped away with rights and left hooks. Going into a survival mode, Johnson starting receiving stern lectures from referee Frank Cappuccno about his excessive holding tactics, as any voltage to his offense had been unplugged by Sheika's one scorching left at the end of the fourth.
Showing flashes of life at the end 7th, Johnson caught the now reckless Sheika storming in, and clipped him with a solid left hook to the Palestinian's exposed chin. Missing with a wild right, Sheika again got tagged by a left hook, but Johnson's short rally was not enough to nail down the round.
Continuing his comeback in the 8th, Johnson opened up, landing a right to the ear that backed up Sheika. Putting on the pressure, Sheika again walked into a telling left hook, as Johnson went back to employing the jab as his primary weapon.
The 9th saw Johnson even the score with his own vicious left hook to the body that made Sheika double up at the waist upon contact. A follow up left hook to the head, cut Sheika over the right eye. The enraged Sheika then smashed in a hard right, and slammed in a straight left to the face as the round concluded.
With the fight up for grabs, Sheika came out blasting in the 10th and final round. It wasn't pretty as he crudely applied pressure, winging in shots and backing up the tiring Johnson, whose offense again stalled, leaving him once more at the wrong end of a close decision.
Judge Ron Greenly had it even at 95 to 95, while judges Robert Brasso and Tony Wolf both had Sheika up 96 to 93, giving him the majority decision. BT had Sheika ahead 95 to 94, the knockdown being the difference in the scoring, while the left hook to the body in the 4th made the difference in the fight. But if Sheika's new "Thinking Man's" boxing stance is going to succeed, he's going to have to learn to move his head, and jab a hell of a lot more.

you might be the only one who thinks Ottke-Johnson was a ROBBERY. oh my god. only because you think it was close (2 rounds). why don´t you just say close or controversial. a robbery is a clear win that goes to the other guy.
i will never understand why Ottke is the most hated boxer at Boxrec. this guy is one of th fairest boxers and sportsmen i´ve seen and heard in his commentaries. he had some close decisions that were given to him. that happens to all reigning champs. but that´s no reason to hate one.

yes biubi whatever you say mate. if the guy who you think won, loses then its a robbery to you personally.

You called Sturm vs de la hoya a robbery by your reckoning it wasnt then, cue histrioinics "oh my god just cos it was a close fight blah blah" jesus as Ive said before you have one rule for one and one for another mate, hypocrisy its called.
dont hate ottke for the record but i do think he had his share of dodgy decisions.

Speechless. No way Ottke won that fight. He spent the entire fight on the outside on Larsens jab and couldn't get in to land anything.

Your joking right? Ottke complained from the 1st bell about every little thing. At one point he turned to the ref and complained when Reid landed a punch and the ref gave a warning. Ottke saw how weak and biased the ref was played him all night. You know Ottke hardly ever got hit by bodyshots in his career. The pattern was his opponents would try to go to the body early, Ottke would complain to the ref and say they where low and his opponents would have to stop throwing them for fear of getting points deducted. It would have been the tactic to slow him down had he fought in any other country, big advantage. I thought Brewer beat Ottke the 1st time. Ottke would not be successful if he fought in the US, the judges wouldn't count a lot of his taps as punches.

yip the world according to my German friend here:
sturm was totally robbed, ottke never had a gift decision in his life, sturm should fight hopkins over eastman, harrison is a fraud while krasniq is great, williams doesnt deserve a shot but Sam does, The Klits are german but Lennox and naseem are not British and last but no means least Berti Vogts has been a good manager for Scotland.
I rest my case me lud

i never said all that. but here you can see that i am not the only one who thinks Sturm was robbed. i can remember that you said after the fight that you gave the fight to Felix but it was no robbery to you. but i don´t hate you for that. that´s normal. plus i said some posts before that Larsen-Ottke was a robbery. but some other guy said that it was not one. cmon, mate. i never said that the Klits are german. you know that.
